The courier didn't let you down lawrie, he did exactly as you said he would, which was contact me to arrange collection. The birds were due to be picked up by the courier today. The thing that caused the dispute was you not paying for the birds mate. :-/

Mealys are just a dilute form of blue, lacking the gene for melanin, so a mutation of the same species. Like budgies, lots of colours turn up during inbreeding/domestication but all the same species.....

They would breed with racers no trouble mate, one of the biggest threat to the wild birds is feral pigeons mixing with them and diluting the wild genes. I'd like to try one or two and see how they race when bred back to a good stock bird.

Yes mate, the pecking had definitely created holes for nesting.

There probably is slinky. Judging by the piles of droppings in the caves and the size of the holes where the birds have been pecking for minerals I'd say they've been there a very long time.........

The only other place I've seen them is near Applecross, Loch Carron way on the NW coast of Scotland.

I had a look but they had all hatched and fledged 8) They're protected anyways.......

Here's a couple of pics I took of wild Rock Doves on Menorca. There were about 60 birds living in 2 small caves in the cliffs. They look faster and definately more agile than our domestic birds, not sure they'd have the stamina for racing though. I spent an hour hiding in the cave waiting for them to come back and this young bird (a cock I think) is the only one that returned while I was there......much longer winged with the flights reaching the tip of the tail, unlike most racers.

Nice birds ritchie. I'd say the bird with the darker beak is probably a hen (the one on the right in the 1st 2 pics.....). I got 4 cracking Jannsens last week from Kev Elliott. 2 have paired off but not sure what the other 2 are yet.

They might walk home mate ;D They're not really built for flying far.
