I've had to edit some of the posts for comments & language. I understand the emotion behind the issues raised in this thread, but old Scots sayings 'keep the heid' and 'screw the nut' spring to mind.

Paraquat is a well known weedkiller and its been known for years that it is deadly to humans if swallowed. Its use also appears to be banned throughout the EU since 2007, though I cannot confirm that, especially as I think I used it this year in Pathclear or a like product, as a part ingredient along with diquat??

When posts are removed from a thread by a moderator it is done so because they infringe The Rules. Continuing to post in the same vein also infringes those same Rules. Lanarkshire Club thread was locked and removed from the board for this reason. This matter has been referred to Site Admin for further Action.

I've taken a number of posts off this thread making & discussing certain allegations. Forum isn't the place for that when there is a process for dealing with these matters at club, federation & union levels.

As I said before, I lived in Helensburgh [and Dumbarton] for a time, travelling to Glasgow to work mostly by train, but had a motorbike for a while which I used to scout out the country. So I think I know the area and the main barriers: the Kilpatrick Hills running N/S, and the Campsies running E/W, and now living in the Falkirk area, I know that Campies become the Ochills north of the Forth Valley, and south is the Pentlands, both running E/W. So coming off the East Coast it's likely your birds currently fly a treble dog-leg. [1] left off the Coast into the Forth Valley flying due West between Pentlands & Ochills / Campsies, [2] right into Clyde valley keeping west of Kilpatrick Hills then [3] right into Leven Valley at Dumbarton. Well thats the drag. In Falkirk area there's a wide gap between the Ochills and Campies, and NW through that gap takes you behind the Campies and the Kilpatrick Hills. I've been over the northern bit [stirling / Jamestown] and to me it appears a flat plain rather than a valley, with the Vale at the western end of it. It was also a planned route for a ship canal connecting Long Long and the River Forth, with a tunnel at the western end, so if you can run a tanker through that area, you should also be able to get birds to fly through it. I agree with you that if your birds remain in the drag, there's little chance of winning.

Well done so far. I think your contacting a club near to you is ideal. They will probably arrange someone to collect the pigeon from you and get it back to its owner. That's how it would be done here too. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

Not at all. Trial & error with 1st one. Well done.

I've merged an earlier thread 'smell of ammonia' with the current thread 'ammonia'. The earlier thread contents are at the start of this thread and contain relevant information which may help the current enquirer.

I've PM'd our member Don. He lives in Texas. He is in a better position to help than anyone this side of the pond.

One for our American members, I think. The organisation to whom it should be reported is the AU [American Union?] and the band will probably include these letters as well as numbers ~ which will be needed to identify the bird's owner.

Watched the Wales v New Zealand rugby match - total respect shown by all to wreath ceremony and minutes silence.

The seperate topic which sprang up as part of this thread was judged to warrant a thread of its own. It's called 'Pros & Cons of Medication'.

This was a topic which was part of the 'watery droppings' thread and judging by the number of posts, warranted a thread of its own.

I'm not sure this is what you wanted, but I've moved your thread to 'members photos' as all members can access it there.

Sorry, no. Whitenight asked for his membership of the site to be ended. He's left.

Hi, welcome to the site. I hope you don't mind me changing your title a bit, 'not filling his eggs' is a more common way of describing cocks' fertilisation problems over here, and I hope it will help draw more replies for you.
-
I've altered your heading; there is already a thread on the board on breeding pigeons for the distance ; I hope your thread will complement that one with posts on how to win at the distance. To ensure no cross-posting between two threads, for this one assume you already have distance birds, now how do you get results with them?

Your 'can u help' thread was not deleted, it was removed to 'Topics to Check' Moderators Board. The reason was not your fault, but the constant breaking of rules by the first post to reply to you, in which a banned former-member was named - as has happened here again today, despite user warning being issued to the offender. I've given the correct reason for the removal, and will now lock this thread.

It's been noted and Admin are looking into it.

I've posted up for Admin attention, Frank. Seems your account is closed - again are your dues up to date?

The thread is out of place on Health Board. Nothing to do with pigeons or health so~ moved.

Billy added this question to recent 'YBS sickness, birds dying' thread. I've split it from that thread and posted it here as it may be of interest, and other members may be in a position to share their experiences with Billy.

As this is a scenario, involving naming a person on this Site, I'd say 'the name & shame' brigade are bang out of order because the details given here are very scant. Why (always) opt for the worst case scenario? There's no mention of further contact with the fancier, or even if the sale included pedigrees, for example LPW sells stock birds and states 'no pedigree will be given'. The pedigrees could have been lost in the post, attached to boxes the birds were delivered in, and lost in transit.
