Yesterday i read in the local newspaper
"A flock of pigeons fitted with mobile phone backpaks are to be used as air pollution monitors. the twenty pigeons will be released next August into the smog-filled skies over San Jose in Calafornia. Each bird will carry a GPS satalite tracking receiver,air pollution sensors, and a basic cellphone. Text meassages on air quality will be beamed back to an online journal, while miniture camareas around the pigeons necks will post pictures. The idea was hatched by researcher Beatriz Da Costa, from the university of Calafornia, and two pf her students. they have bulit a prototype of the equipment,containing a cellphone circuit bord with sim card, a GPS reciever and sensors capable of detecting carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide."
