Clockman don't see why politics should get started "AGAIN" on this thread. Its been good to see the views of some members so far and all have given Constructive Critisism on the subject. Keep the posts coming !!!!

First and foremost I am 100% pigeon man like most on this Website, i have views and opinions most topics and when in discussion i voice them openly. After a lot of thought and deliberation i decided to put finger to keybord and write this post. A comment was made whilst in coversation and it is that comment which has made me write this post, The person/people who said this is are not important. We were discussing the Results of the 2 nationals (SNFC Alencon & SNRPC Riems) and the comment "Its not a Real National Winner" was made !! Now this person has had "GREAT" positions in National Racing over the last few years and the point he was trying to make was that he felt even though if he won the national he knows that there were other good birds in Scotland that weren't at the race. I know that times have changed and that there are now 2 National Clubs in Scotland but looking at results sheets with regards to Members Sent, Birdage & Pools etc, i understood his point and knew where he was coming from, gone are the days of 3000-4000 pigeons being sent to the "BIG RACE" and i personally can't see any long term Future for Racing Pigeons (Not only in Scotland) but in General. Congratulations to "Both" National Winners, What are the members thoughts on this ???

I am an avid follower of the Pigeon Basics Website and enjoy nothing more than reading all the posts and having a good laugh at some of them. Over the last couple of weeks it seems some of the members are now begining to take what should be a bit of fun far too serious and some posts are aimed at insulting others and there origin. After reading all the posts over the last few days people are now telling everyone they are leaving because of something another member said !!! CHILDISH !! Can you not just let it go over yours heads ?? It's meant to be a fun Website bringing the sport of Racing Pigeons out of the Dark ages (ABOUT TIME TOO). We all have opinions and thoughts on various topics and some are helpful to others, but some are less constructive and more intimidating !! If its not ETS, SNFC vs SNRPC it will be something else, But one thing that Pi$$es me off is alot of people seem to be aiming the blame at FIFE KING !!! As far as i have read he only seems to tell the TRUTH (Maybe that hurts People) there are others on this Forum that seem to like nothing more than picking you up before you Fall !!! To end my post if you want to leave the pigeon basics forum, then just leave !! you don't have to tell everyone, it's your own choice. IF YOU CAN'T STAND THE HEAT !!!! KEEP OUT OF THE KITCHEN Good Luck to "ALL FANCIERS" racing this week, Especially to the SNFC lets hope for a great race !!!!

Quite a hard one with there being so many "GOOD" fanciers in FIFE so heres a few i think deserve that title of "BEST FLYER IN YOUR AREA". Brian Chalmers of Kennoway, A name who has appeared on most SNFC results in the last few years and is also on the Fed sheet most weeks (This man WILL win a National). Gav Aiken of Kennoway, Check this mans performances over the last few years it can only be described as "AWSOME" only racing a small team of pigeons (4 firsts this season out of 6 so FAR). John Harcus of St Andrews, small team lofts with some CRACKING results (2 first Fed this year so far 2500 + birds). John King of Kirkcaldy, Professional attitude to pigeons with some truely outstanding results over the last 10 years (Club , Fed and Nationals). Mick McMurchie - always there or there abouts on the Fed Sheet. Ian Hopkins of Cardenden, only racing about 6 pairs of pigeons this man holds his own with guys racing up to 10 times the amount he races !! A few men who are no longer with us who also have achieved the same status. Jimmy Kier - Club, fed or National always there. Matt McLauchlin - One word "LEGEND" Davie King - Club & Fed racing only he was the KING OF THE WEST SECTION !! Jim Whyte (from Storrar & Whyte) - no nosense attitude to pigeons !! he proved it.

I have been using this Website as a way of gaining infromation about the recent BIRD FLU incident in FIFE. Up till now it has been a great help to myself and quite a few other Fanciers in my area, BUT it seems that there is still a wee bit of bad feeling between some of the members on this site regarding issues which should have been settled long time ago !!!! Should OUR , when i say OUR i mean ALL FIFE FED & KINGDOM ASSOCIATION members main aim this year is to have a RACING SEASON ???? We are not asking for the world all we want is a chance to race our birds, and on the other side of the coin the (SHU/RPRA/DEFRA) are not asking for the world by restricting us to a few hours each day to exercise our birds (BUT NO TRAINING). So why is it that there are certain members who think they are exception to the rule ???? You ASS HOLES (excuse the language any Ladies) could jepordise any chance of racing in Fife this year and for what ???? a few more training tosses than everyone else ?? Could we not stick together on this one ?? (at least until the first Race) haha

Fife Fed & Kingdom Association were meant to start racing on the 29th April. I've not had any official word saying that i can/can't let my birds out or that the racing has been cancelled. Would it not have been alot easier if the "POWERS THAT BE" sent out information to "ALL" members about the current situation, a few simple do's & don'ts would have been enough ?????

As far as i am aware neither The Fife Federation or The Kingdom Association had any race on Saturday !!!

THE FAMOUS YOUNG BIRD SICKNESS !!! FIRST AND FOREMOST FELLOW PIGEON FANCIERS DON'T START PANICKING AND TREAT THEM WITH EVERY MEDICINE UNDER THE SUN, BEEN THERE, DONE IT, GOT QUITE A FEW T-SHIRTS. FIRSTLY MR JIMMY WHITE YOU ARE 100% CORRECT IN SAYING STRESS IS THE ROOT CAUSE. I'M NOW TALKING FROM EXPERIENCE HERE. SENT MY FULL "A" TEAM OF YOUNG BIRDS TO THE FIRST RACE. SENT 23 AND GOT 22 HOME, CAN'T GRUMBLE 1st & 4th CLUB,KEPT THEM IN ON THE SUNDAY AS ALWAYS AND ON THE MONDAY MORNING BEFORE GOING TO WORK WENT IN THE LOFT AND NOTICED SOME FEEDING ON THE EASILY CLEAN PERCHES, I THEN HANDLED A FEW BIRDS AND NOTICED THEY WERE RETAINING THERE FEEDING, THE DREADED YB SICKNESS HAD ARRIVED. THE FIRST THING I DID WAS? NOW THERE WILL BE A FEW GASPS !!!! OPENED THE SLIDING DOOR TO MY "B" TEAM OF YOUNG BIRDS SO THEY CAN BOTH MIX, EAT , AND DRINK THE SAME WATER. THE REASON I DO THIS IS BECAUSE ONCE THEY GET THE YBS AND OVERCOME IT I FEEL THEY NEVER GET IT AGAIN. THE TREATMENTS USED WERE A PRODUCT CALLED "PROTRIL" FROM PIGEON HEALTH, UK ANIMAL PRODUCTS IT IS A POWDER TO BE USED IN WATER FOR SEVERE WET DROPPINGS. IN CONJUNCTION WITH "PROTRIL" I USE NATURAL PRO-BIOTIC YOGHURT ON TOP OF 100% DEPURATIVE, MIX IT IN WITH THE DEPURATIVE AND GIVE IT TIME TO DRY (3 -4 HOURS) IF POSSIBLE FEED THEM 3 - 4 TIMES PER DAY IN SMALL AMOUNTS.THIS MAKES THEM DRINK THE WATER AS WELL. KEEP YOUR BIRDS IN ! NO EXERCISE, AND TAKE AWAY ALL GRITS AND MINERALS AS I FEEL THIS HINDERS THE TREATMENTS. I STARTED GIVING THE CRUMBLE BLOCKS AFTER 6 DAYS AS I FEEL IT DRYS THEM UP AND ON THE 7TH DAY I LET THEM OUT FOR A FLY (45MINS) AND THEY WERE FLYING FOR THAT TIME. I GRADUALLY STARTED MIXING YB MIXTURE IN WITH THE DEPURATIVE OVER 3 DAYS AND TRAINING STARTED ON THE 10TH DAY. SO IN ALL 10 DAYS, YBS CAME AND WENT, THE BIRDS ARE LOOKING GREAT, I KNOW I MISSED A YOUNG BIRD RACE BUT WHY PUT OTHER FANCIERS PIGEONS AT RISK AS WELL??? SENT 22 TO THE THIRD YB RACE(80 MILES) 19 BIRDS HOME WITHIN 15 MINS ??? 20/22 RETURNS?? THE ONLY THING I PUT IT DOWN TO WAS STRESS FROM THE FIRST TIME IN THE TRANSPORTER, AND MIXING WITH OTHER BIRDS. THIS IS MY FINDINGS AND HAS WORKED FOR ME IF IT HELPS 1 FANCIER THE IT HAS BEEN WORTH WRITING IT. CHEERS LADS CHEERS TO THUNDER HE KNOWS WHY.
