Can i just say that please do not belive what others on this site say in response to this statement, i am only 14 years old, and cannot afford a loft so i use a orange box, i have two pigeons they went to every race this year, have done quite well with them winning 20 x 1st and 19x 2nds from 10 race's hope this might be good enough to win your comp for young fancier of the year. This is true i would not lie to you all ask me dad, Mr Bull RAY -
On asunday we give our bird's this in there water, 1/2 teaspoon Bicarb Soda. 1 teaspoon Epson Salts, 1 Table spoon of glucose powder. add this to 2 liters of water, Now if it harms the birds then i have not seen any proof of this. last year was our 1st season back with the birds, so racing yb's only we won 8x1st 12x2nds 8x3rd 10x 4th. never out side the first two in the club. This season we raced a few old bird races and a few yb races, 5x1st 8x2nd 7x3rd 4x4th all i know is that it helps clean the birds out and helps keep the coxi count down, we first used this in our first season because two weeks before the 1st yb race we had yb sickness and an old fancier in our club told us to give this mixture to the birds for 3 days and if the birds did not improve then seek advice from the vet, forgot to say that also for the 3 days that the birds are on the mixture only feed barley. they improved in 2 days, also we make sure that on a monday we give the birds Yackolt in the water at a rate of 2 liters of water, this will replace the good bugs in the tummy. -
Hi Silverwings We do use it every sunday along with bicarb soda and glucose powder. was told by a fancier with over 30 yrs flying. RAY
-
Good one shadow we are the same have never sold a bird in our lives but have given plenty away to new starters, and a few mate's RAY P.S. as for the pure bird's a lot of mug's about lol
-
Our best birds are the one's that win, what differance it makes if they are quite or aggresive that part of it is down to personal choice, we like the one's with a little bit of fight in them but it will not tell you that they are any good RAY
-
Shadow i agree with you about there being no pure pigeons mate and that also go's for the janssens as well ????. it is well known that they also brought in a few birds from other fanciers, But as i said the first busschaerts into this country would not fly any good over aprox 250 miles, they where sprinters. As you say no such thing as true busschaerts , but the point we was making is that the first one's that came over where out and out sprinters we all know that no familey of pigeons are pure. RAY
-
Yes Heathcote Gill & George where the best of mates, was not into the pigeons that long ago but i was lucky to get to know Gill later through the Greyhound's a great trainer in his own right, it was a real pleasure to know him and i feel hounered to have done so. As you said a lot of gay pieds and pieds, some of the best birds i have ever seen, also belive they where some of the first fanciers to use widowhood system. and what great great results they had with them. Ray
-
Hi Shadow But would you call them pure Busschaerts mate, ???????. Ray
-
DO NOT GET THAT MANY REPORTED FROM ONE YB RACE THIS YEAR WE LOST 15 YB'S ALL WINGSTAMPED BUT NOT ONE REPORTED SO I DO NOT THINK THAT MANY DO REPORT STRAY BIRDS, RAY P.S. BUT WE ALSO HAVE MADE SOME GOOD FRIENDS FROM REPORTING THERE BIRDS,
-
THAT IS RIGHT HEATHCOTE ONE OF THE FIRST TO HAVE THEM OVER HERE IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN WAS A FANCIER CALLED GILL DUNCAN, SADLY NO LONGER WITH US BUT I HAVE SPOKEN TO HIM MANY TIMES, HE ALWAYS SAID THAT THE TRUE BUSSCHAERTS WOULD NOT DO ANY GOOD OVER 200/250 MILE'S. RAY
-
The sale's went very well mate from what i have heard, but i do not know the final total mate RAY
-
Was it the Arrow Mix From Blandfords RAY
-
Always look for a wing stamp or name and address ring, We always report a stray bird to the owner. We also wingstamp our birds with just our phone number on it RAY
-
WELL DONE MADDY 1st CLASS MATE. ALSO WELL DONE TO ALL THAT ENTERED. RAY
