  1. Hi Owen, I really do think you should engage your brain before opening your mouth. You choose to do a character assasination job on me and yet we've never met. You choose to describe me as a damn fool because I happen to have a different point of view from Roland, and probably many more of our esteemed members. I ask you, is this a good foundation with which to debate what is obviously a very emotive subject ? Also owen, I'm at a complete loss to understand what the trade union movement has to do with anything. I've no doubt after reading your rant that this will come as a surprise to you. I was an active trade union member for most of my working life, indeed I also worked in an official capacity for a number of years, and although I'm now retired, I still keep in touch with some colleagues who are still active, both politically in the socialist movement, and in the trade union movement. So it would seem to me Owen that you are most certainly not the master of your subject when it comes to attacking me as an individual. As I have already stated, I am no expert, I wouldn't know one species of Hawk/Falcon from another, and yes I do fully understand the anger when any of us loose a bird in this manner, but my take on things is quite simply different from others. If you think that gives you the right to dish out personal abuse, then I would respectfully suggest that you draw back from the issue and allow someone with a more measured outlook to be your spokesperson. The aggressive bovver-boy attitude will achieve nothing . From each according to his ability, To each according to his needs ( Karl Marx ) All the very best, Cocker.
  2. Hi Roland, first can I say I'm at a loss to understand the tone of your post mate, it's only my opinion, nothing more, I'm no expert one way or the other. Maybe if you don't wish to read alternative points of view mate we'll leave it there. I enjoy this forum far too much to get involved in anything which creates bad feeling. I wish you well, Cocker.
  3. I know how you guys feel when you lose a bird to any kind of hawk or falcon or whatever. I've lost a couple myself over the years, but I feel I, ( and I'm speaking for myself here) just have to accept that when my birds are out flying they're part of a very harsh natural world where all kinds of carnivores kill to survive. I don't like the idea of losing a bird in this manner, but unfortunately it's just a fact of life. All the best, Cocker.
  4. Hello all, I have to say I've really enjoyed reading the posts on this topic, as I said when I joined the board I'm not a racing man, I keep powters, have done on and off for most of my life. For a long time I've been using things like cider vinegar, garlic, brewers yeast etc and for me it most certainly helps with keeping the birds in good nick. The board is a wonderful place for us to learn from each other. I salute you folk, great knowledge, great enthusiasm. Thanks again, Cocker.
  5. OOPS, can I apologise to the ladies for omitting them from my thankyou post......Sorry Amanada..and all other ladies who may bo membres. Cocker.
