  1. Just to say thanks to everyone who helped me out last night. Have added a thankyou to my post but not sure all who helped will see. Percy Pigeon was picked up today and has been identified and hopefully will be on his way home soon. Hope he will be ok. Thanks everyone. Good luck to all of you people and thanks for being so friendly. Dozzie
  2. Thank you everyone who helped me out in my panic last night! LOL! Percy Pigeon has been picked up (thanks Allen) and identified and will hopefully be home soon. My dogs are a little disappointed as they were hoping to have a snack when I went out. I have to say despite managing to pick him up I dont think I will get into pigeon racing! I will stick to horses. Best of luck to everyone. Thanks again. Dozzie PS If any of you ever find a horse , post on the horse and hound forum and we will help you too!
  3. I have just managed to read the tel code no. It is 01584 which is a Ludlow no. Cant see the rest yet but will keep trying. Sorry to be so rubbish! The no. on his rubber racing ring is 7397 but not sure if that would help.
  4. Yes it is green. LOL! I must have read it upside down! I do think the 4 could be an A. And I am really sorry if I have messed up his race but I had to get the string off.
  5. Oh god does that mean I have to catch him again. I thought I had doen really well! It could be 08 and I read it upside down LOL! The number is perpendicular to the rest of the numbers. I know nothing about pigeons! ;D Hopefully someone from here is going to come out for me this afternoon. I will have another look but he is a bit of a feisty one! The problem is my cat basket is one which is completely covered except for the front so I have to wait for him to come forward! Pigeon numpty here! He is very pretty though! Could it be GB 08 A1893?
  6. Hi there I posted last night about this bird. He is currently in my cat box. I managed to get the green ring number which as far as I could see was GB 80 41893. He had managed to get 2 ft of string caught round his leg but the string is off his leg now. He also has a rubber ring on so has been racing I presume. Sorry I couldnt get his wing no. as he was growling at me!
  7. LOL! We dont have a cat anymore but we have two mastiffs who are partial to pigeons.
  8. Yes I have put the water in a deep dish as i read this on the pigeon racing site. Hopefully someone can come over and identify him. And maybe get the string off his leg. Tbh if it wasnt for that he would have been ok, We often have them stay for a few days and then they move on. It is daft to be scared of a bird when I handle big stroppy horses! I guess it is what you are used to! TBH I dont really want the RSPCA involved if poss as they are too money orientated and I would rather we got him home without involving them. So if someone can help out I can tell the RSPCA he flew away!
  9. Yay, I have caught him and he is in the basket. I have put some water and seed in and covered it over with my coat so hopefully he wont be too stressed. It took a couple of attempts so i hope he isnt injured. Couldnt see the number as i had to catch him in the dark and it was as much as I could do to put him in the basket.
  10. Yes you can help! Sorry cant get the hang of replying to the right person. I have found the basket and will put some hay in it for now. Right i am off to try. Will be back in a while.
  11. I am scared of birds when they flap their wings! That probably sounds really pathetic to all of you! LOL! I do have a cat basket so could put him in there if i can catch him but then what do i do? I have some hay I can put in it. Will that be ok for now? He is roosting on a shelf at the moment so not out of reach. I will give it a go. It sounds daft but if it was a horse i wouldnt have a problem! My postcode is RG19 8AU.
  12. I have a racing pigeon roosting in my feed room on my farm. He has been with us a few days and i have fed him wild bird food as that is all i had and watered him in the hope he would fly away. I have allowed him to roost in my feed room for his own protection as we have foxes around. . So he is safe. Unfortunately he has managed to get some string from a feed bag caught around his leg but wont let me near him to catch him to remove it. So I cant get his ring no. either. Plus i am a bit scared of birds! LOL! Can anyone help. In desperation i called the RSPCA tonight but they could take days and I am worried if he flies off with the string attached he will be in trouble. I live between Newbury and basingstoke if that helps.
