  1. dont be dissapointed in losing if your a beginner you have to give it a couple of years to build a proper team and get the right birds, plus gain some experiances. When i was a beginner the thing that i was bothered about was gettin them all home, but everyone told me that i cant just expect to go in to the sport and win everything it takes patience but good luck anyway and do not let the time thing deter you as its all worth it when your birds are right in the end
  2. yea i agree with speedbird that they clash, get attacked and other things, which results in losses but doesnt meen to say that they are bad birds, however thats just the way it goes in pigeon racing i have lost many good and potentially good pigeons to cats and hawks and so on. But i also agree that its misleading to say that strays maybe good because sadly thats mostly the case, i did have 1 once that was from a newcastle fed that as a old bird was 4th 2 times and was my first bird home on different occasions beating my own birds home, however as said above i lost this bird and most of the strays i have had transfered to me.
  3. i think the reason they sense disasters more than alot of other animals is (if they do actually use the magnetic field as part of their homing sense), the magnetic field may be disturbed in some way so the homing pigeons can pick up on that.
  4. i had 1 like that a couple of weeks ago it was makin a funny sound just like yours it was also sneezin but i just left it and it was o.k next time checked about 4 days later.

  7. listen, i understand that fife king may be in the wrong, and many of you think that fife king is just trying to cause trouble, this may be true but you other members saying you need to go back to school....blah blah blah is just as worse because you know that this will be responded to with a unpleasent comment and more will follow. So can we just draw a line please people!!
  8. the rpra have suffered lots of criticism over the past years for the way they have handeled certain matters (certainley in my area and many areas over the england i know of). however i think peter bryant and the rest of rpra have been absoultely brilliant especially in fighting constantly in an on going battle with defra on getting the go ahead to race from france. i also would like to point out that he never fails to report on even the slighest detail on his case with defra in the BHW and on the rpra website. i think peter bryant certainly doesnt get the credit he deserves, and persoanlly i think we would be lost in the sport without peter and several other members of the rpra for always fighting issues raised that may potentially cause som uproar in england. this may however, not be the case with were you are racing and the members of the federation and clubs were you are living may well be with the same opinion as me. i was just wondering what the members of the forum think and if they share the same opinion as me?? cheers
  9. yea i know people are aloud there opinion of course....but im sayin there is a line to cross and personally i think many have crossed it already in other sections of the forum...members are been driven away for the sake of petty little comments that may have offended them or just people generally arguing about subjects were people have often created the subject to ask of others opinions which is always good and educational.....but alot of the time these harmless discussions turn into a negative feeling topic. which more often than not is started or contributed to, by people crossing sensative boundries with there opinions when they know for themselves that it could very well offend people....i understand there will always be people that speak there mind and say exactly what they think.....all i am asking is that members think more carfefully before they post there opinions. cheers

    training

i just give them basket training and all ma youngsters baring 2 (which i have just recieved of a good friend that will be entering the comeback races), from 30 or so miles and i got good returns, the traing toss educated them as well because they were not straight home, they were ranging which is always good for the youngsters in my opinion
  12. yea i find thats also a good way to distinguish the sex of a bird
