  1. Everything you have describe is correct. I was simply looking at the easy approach, and not having to resort to the other means that you have described/elaborated on. What you have said will work, for the (individuals that will indulge). However, rats are not stupid. I might add that Im far from a mophead! All I was saying was, it worked for us, and perhaps it may for the individual. I have taking care of numerous creatures that want to create mayhem and indeed kill for no reason it would seem, other than being able to do so. Having killed the pigeons they don't want to eat them, it as if they are a easy kill and toy. I will not elaborate, but there are various methods which work. Poison to a degree will work, ferrets are nasty, be it smell, their cages again nasty, or indeed how ruthless they can be. However I was advised to get them around me and took that advice and it worked, so have no complaints!
  2. I would have to agree with a few of the replies that have been given. Get some ferrets around you and a terrier. I can recall having problems ourselves but once the ferret's went under the loft they (being the rats scattered) not before the ferrets actually getting some of them. We experienced no problems afterwards and we even bought a Jack Russell to deter potential cats also and he worked great. Good Luck.
