Thanks for your answer chrissy , My post was for me to start with ,but for everyone as well . If the shows are put on here we might get more people to attend . I have only just started dipping my toes into the show side of things, so untill I know better I thought it best to ask all of you where your shows are .Then everyone can be informed . Unfortunately because of my job I will probably miss the majority of them as I work a lot of Saturday,s during the winter season . Anyway ! , Why dont we use the forum to advertise our shows ????? Does anyone have a list of Fancy pigeon shows around Scotland or UK ?? The NPA have a couple listed ,but there must be a few more than that ?? Even if its just a local show ! Put the date place etc on the site and we can check back and maybe come along !

Whether you have ETS or not,The people who were winning the averages ect over the last few years will still be winning the averages .Not because of ETS , but because they know how to fly pigeons !! The pigeon hasnt got a clue that it has an ETS ring on its leg ,all it wants to do is get back inside the loft . Getting the bird right on the day is more important than ANY clocking system .The continentals and Americans use them all the time without any of this bull****,and in a couple of years time there wont be much moaning over here either . COST ! still at school ,difficult . so you cut your teeth on a manual clock and if you still want race pigeons ,you buy an ETS system when you start working .( show me young lad that doesnt drink more than 4 or 5 times that in a year ! ) We all know people who buy birds EVERY year !, save your money and buy a new clock . You play the game to the level you can afford ! That applies to every sport where you have to buy equipment ,pigeon racing is no different . The other thing about every sport is that you will always get the ones who will find something to gripe about . ETS wont finnish this sport ! Politics probably will !

hi Guy's , I am a Gamekeeper just outside Aberdeen . I rear 5000 pheasants and 1000 ducks every year plus all my pigeon's .I am that close to Aberdeen ,I cannot afford to put a foot out of place .There are people skulking around with cammo gear on and long len's camera's all over the place .The ordinary people are not so bad ,they just dont have a clue what goes on in the countryside , and they dont believe it unless Bill Oddie said so !!!!. Its the RAPTOR group that are the bad ones !They think of themselves as a cut above the ordinary twitcher and think they have the right to be as obstructive as they can .I have been told of them even trying to set people up ,but I cannot confirm that !$%*!**£$ OK .Then of course there is the new housing estates going up all over the place .They all think they are in the country so they get a dog and two cats !! Their idea of dog control is ,If they can see it (even 500 yards away )they are in control ! and then they go home and think they have a great cat because it keeps bringing little fledgling birds home .These are the same people who join the RSPB and send there money away and think they are doing great !!! They are also the same people who are in too much of a hurry to get too work and run over anything that gets in their way on the road ! Including my pheasants . Some of those caring people ,every year at holiday time .Are the ones who DUMP cat's and dogs in a local layby !!!The poor dogs sit there all day waiting for there owners to come back .Bas%$£"* ! I usualy end up taking them to the dog pound . I am sorry for sounding so miserable ,but this is not the best time of year to be a gamekeeper .You batter you head off a brick wall trying to make a living and in reality , the majority of those who dont understand ,also don't give a %^$£ if you go down the pan ! Believe me when I say that Pigeon racing is on the list of thing's these people want to STOP ! It may not be on the top of the list ,BUT ITS ON THE LIST ! George

When you ring , make sure you ask them to bring boxes !! If you have time and the local office is close enough,go and pick up the boxes yourself and then you can be ready when they call . My local office rings me when the birds come off the night trunk van's . I then go and collect them instead of waiting untill 4.30/5.00 for them to be delivered . Just a few idea's , hope it help,s

1 ,Most people have more than one type of bird in their loft ,which end up being bred to that person's likes and dislike's (we don't allways make the right decision ) . 2 ,All the great's freely admit to having birds from different sources . So when does a family of birds become a FifeKing pigeon or a Jimmy white pigeon and go down on the pedigree as that ??? Because whether we like it or not , pedigree's are probably the most unreliable bit's of paper on the planet ! ha ha
