  3. Only three more to find homes for. At only four weeks old ,I am quite happy with the progress so far.I havent put any in the local paper yet! I might leave that another week or so. Feeding them twice a day just now,as well as mum being sucked dry and getting nipped with seven sets of needle teeth being clamped on ! LOLOL Their character is starting to appear now as well . A bit like the seven dwarfs! Sleepy,Bitchy,Bitey,Bully,Bonkers,Bampot and BIN!(he tries to eat everything!) Mum is doing a fantastic job, she will deserve a good rest and pampering once they all go. http://s717.photobucket.com/albums/ww171/2434me/puppies/?action=view&current=005.mp4&evt=user_media_share So Redrocket! 15. KINGS LEA ONE LOFT RACE ________________________ I had a bird in the Kings lea race , 2845 was the number , He did his training at a fair old pace , And avoided the clouds and the thunder ! """"" He was 2nd then 2nd then 2nd then late , On the £50 hotspot place , Then he redeemed himself by coming third , The week before the big race . """""" As the day grew close the tension was rising, Would he win? would he place ? it was gripping ? The only thing I knew for sure , My poor little bum was a nipping !!! """""" The birds were UP !!! The weather MMMMMm OK Nothing left to do but wait , And wait and wait and wait and wait And wait and wait and wait ! , """"""" We looked to the South , And looked to the East , And watched for the birds to appear ? "THERE,S A BIRD ON THE LOFT" , somebody said , It had crept up on us from the rear !!!!! """"""" The race was won , The bird was IN , And Joe smiling ear to ear ! My bird was 4th but at least it came home , To fight on another year . """""""" The race day was a resounding success , It just could not have been better planned ! Marlene and Ian were excellant hosts, AND JOE BENZIE WON A GRAND !!!!!!!!! """""""" A hearty congratulations to Ian and crew for putting on an exceptional day of racing for everyone . Thankyou Ian . George

    Disorientation.

I have no idea what causes losses ???? But surely with technology one of these days we will be able to track the birds on their way up the road . After a while ,that should be able to tell us if its weather ,Percy, ect ect by the pattern of signals . The fact of the matter is ,untill we do track them we will never know what causes birds to get lost in such numbers !! Once we do know ,we can do something about it . (If we are still racing pigeons in 2028 ) :-/ :-/
  17. It would be interesting to give someone a loft of say 75/100 young birds . NO ped,s,No names and No idea where they came from . Ask the person to fly them to the best of his ability and see what the result would be after 4/5 years . He would have to go on the birds alone . No preference because its a this or that breed . . No breeding this strain with the same . No idea of making money out of this or that ect ect ect . No fancy food, just decent quality food In the end he would have the birds that could do the job and fight for home , even if its only one pair ! He might not have the winners every week ! But his birds will come home !! This wouldnt appeal to the big money men or the win at all cost men , but it would mean a lot to the grass roots guys who want to see their birds getting home every week . Would we end up with a loft of decent doo,s ???? Would we answer the question of young bird losses ???? Would we breed a stronger constitution pigeon ???? The feed , the medication , the basket raining , the road training , the quality of birds , as long as there are a thousand different guys doing a thousand different things we may never know ? Its been said before, The List Is Endless !! This has also been said before ! " A good bird will still do well regardless of the fancier "
  18. Dancing !!!!!! That explains why the footprints are always left footed !!! He has two of them !!!
  19. ??Wondered where the holes in the bowling green came from ????
  20. He is tied to a fencepost on the bowling green facing the loft, with his eyes taped open so he doesnt miss any birds !!!! We might untie him later ? Then again ? we might not ?????
  21. Cubs are on the go now!!They come in easy to a squeek !But then again ,I tap them on the head with a .243 .On my ground(i,m a keeper)I shoot and trap over 100 a year. Any chance of a picture of your trap ?It obviously works well.Is it a commercial one or did you make it yourself ? I used to put larsen,s out for the magpies, but they kept getting pinched !!
