  8. All of my cocks will be yearlings so it will be new to them aswell, i have been told by a few fanciers they must fly for an hour atleast a day. maybe once they get into a routine they will fly regardless of the flag? A fancier nearby who wins alot of races puts a flag ontop of his loft when he lets them out and takes down just before they come in so it must work for some people? thanks for the replies.
  9. Just asking the question. will they fly for an hour without forcing to fly? How do you get them to fly for an hour?

  12. Hi, what does everybody think to Racing latebreds? I lost alot of old the season before this one and have very few widowhood cocks now. I had hoped tro get a good team of yearlings togtether this year from my young birds but have nearly 60% hens. Hopefully some of the young cocks will race well and be here next year, but ive decidedto take some latbreds (about 5) and train them up ready for next year oldbirds racing to help keep the numbers of my widowhood cocks up. Has anybody had any decent latebreds or have any advice on how to train them and when. Thanks.

  15. Hi guys, just looking for a few tips. I have my young cocks and hens seperated. Before i train them i let them intogether for a few minutes before i catch them and let them go together, when home i leave them for about an hour then seperate them again. Its thier first race tommorow. Would you let them intogether for a while (how long) before basketing. How long before you leave for the club do you basket them? Do you feed them on the friday if so how much? Thanks for any advice

  20. Hi, just wondering what people use in thier pigeons bath? What are the plus and negatives of using the products? Im looking at using something to give me an advantage as i never put anything in the birds bath just plain old water. Ive seen in recent posts that alot of people put certain things in the pigeons baths. Thanks
  21. Id suggest that if you have a feeling that its too early, you should hold them back a week or two atleast, let them range around the loft and get there bearings before putting them in a basket. Id suggest that a mile toss is not really worthwhile. My first toss is always atleast 5 miles. If your birds are ranging well and going out of sight, they are most probably going further than a mile away from your house when exercising.
  22. Hi, does anybody have any contact details for Frank Sheader. I bought two latebred birds off him last year and both have turned out to be hens. I might get some cocks. Thanks.
