Hello Wiley im in Epping,not sure where my nearest club is ive been on the rpra site but it only gives an area representative type of thing.

Oh right ok so i can join the RPRA and get rings from them direct, I presume i can just go on their website to join ? thanks Im not really ready to join a proper club yet as i only have 3 birds

Only just got my first few pigeons but im told you cant get rings for any youngsters without belonging to a club,is this correct ? If it is how could i find out how to join one im in Essex,and is it expensive to join.

Im in Essex,i do only have a couple of birds at the moment so dont know how that works with joining a club i doubt id be recognised as a proper pigeon keeper yet

Complete novice just got my first few pigeons what vaccinations do they need and where can i get them done ?.....is it something a normal vet does as i dont know anyone else with pigeons ?

How old are your birds on their first flight outside around the loft ?

They are only to get a young lad into the birds they dont have to be superstars of the skies but would like them to have a little more homing instinct than your average garden doves which he started off with thats all.

Is there anybody who specifically sells White Racers ?.....Doesnt have to be super well bred out of champions they are just for a beginner.

Im a complete beginner just about to build a loft/kitbox for a few birds and wondered what the advantages/disadvantages are between plastic V perches....wooden V perches.....or the traditional square box types ( sorry i dont know what they,re called )....thanks.

Yes thats the plan So Andy if your wife uses white pigeons for dove release am i to presume visually there is no difference and one can pass for the other so to speak.......also is it like any other performance bred animal in that colour comes last,or do white racing pigeons stack up with any other racing pigeons ?

When pigeons are released from whatever distance do they spend the whole time in the air or are they likely to touch down at all ?.....Be it birds in training or seasoned racing birds.

I kind of meant just the normal white doves what they use for dove release sort of things and an everyday pigeon,is there a difference apart from colour....i was given these as just white doves and have had them fly back from short distances....is there any reason a white dove wouldnt come back from distances a pigeon would come back from is i suppose what im asking ?.....and is there a difference visually.

Im brand new to Pigeons so sorry if its a daft question......but is there any book or website that gives the basic foodstuffs and nutritional values of different foods....im not necessarily talking about for racing just general day to day care....im figuring if i get an understanding of how a birds body works and uses food etc it will be a start towards understanding it when it comes to racing further down the line.

Many thanks for the replies and welcomes its much appreciated.Im probably not even at the stage of joining a club yet im just about to build some sort of shed/coop type thing as ive had 3 birds living out of a big old cage for the last few months the type of thing people keep chipmunks and things in.I had the birds out flying above the shed for weeks because i didnt have the bottle to take them further afield through fear they wouldnt come back but alas i took them first a mile then 2 miles last wknd and they beat me home both times !! I,ll have literally hundreds of questions but first off......what is the main difference if any between a dove and a pigeon ?.....secondly does anyone have any opinions on kitboxes as opposed to actual pigeon lofts ?....Im thinking of building something about 8 x 4 x 4 feet to house around 12 - 15 birds eventually,the box would go inside a big shed i have down the garden that i might take out a window and utilise as a trap.....well thanks again and any advice will be appreciated

I was given a few white garden doves a couple of months back and am now thinking about trying to get into racing pigeons so thought id join this forum and try to pick up some info as im completely clueless.....just thought id say good evening anyway.
