Well it looks as though Kenvig decided to leave our house and 'Fly Away Home, so hopefully he will arrive back in Neath in a day or two. The journey will be about 280 miles do fingers crossed. I don't want to keep pigeons myself as we already have chickens and a dog to look after but we are more than happy to care for strays.

Well, with everyone's help I have managed to trace the owner of Kenvig. He is a cock bird and comes from Neath. I will let him go this coming weekend once the high winds have gone which are expected this coming Thursday. I don't want Kenvig to go off course again and the extra few days of eating and drinking will hopefully build up his strength for the journey. It has been good fun looking after him and it will be sad to see him go but he isn't ours so we must return him home. I will let you know how it goes. Of course he could leave at his own will if he so wished.

Kenvig is still with us. I couldn't find him last night then found him already inside the greenhouse in his spot for sleeping. Fresh water (sugered) and seed every day. Would still love to find out about the bird and it's history.

Kenvig is happy sat on the cow plant pot preening him/her self. The door of the greenhouse is fully open to the point that other pigeons are going in to eat the seed but Kenvig doesn't feel the need to fly away. Our chickens don't seem to bothered by our new guest.

Wow. Amazing. I didn't expect all this response so quickly. I will of course let everyone know how it goes and the fate of Kenvig. Your help is much appreciated. I will post a photo of Kenvig tomorrow as proof of temporary ownership. Gary

Hi there all you fanciers. (I'm so sorry if that is not the right word) We have a beautiful pigeon numbered WHU 2011 S09457 which landed in our garden. The second one in as many years. We have been taking great care of her/him (I didn't want to ask as it seemed rude) feeding plenty of bird seed (our chickens love it and so do the local birds, pigeons and doves) but it has been several days now and still no sign of flight. Probably too comfortable. Although we would love to keep it and look after it we don't have a pigeon box so I placed the pigeon into the greenhouse overnight so Mr Fox doesn't come along. Has anyone any idea of the owners details. The markings on the wing are blurred. We would love to find out the history of this lovely bird. It has been named Kenvig after Kenvig Hill in Swansea where I once lived and it is a Welsh bird after all. We are in Shotley Gate near Ipswich. Thank you for your time in reading this.
