I agree with strapper, so let's get this story right, this bird was reported wrongly to the whpu by the finder, the owner as such sent for the bird and paid amtrak £30, who then seen the ring number was wrong and reported to whpu and found out the bird belonged to Chris Maidment, who then paid the £30 back and the cheque bounced. I am led to believe that the fancier concerned did have proof of payment to amtrak. So yes there's always two sides to every story and yes we've all read the minutes
