Killing of beloved pet leaves family bereft
A KIRKCALDY woman has been left heartbroken after it emerged her pet dog was killed in a horrific act of cruelty.
Janet Smith (42) appealed for the public’s help yesterday in tracing the person responsible, after her tiny Jack Russell terrier Mindy was dumped in her back garden at the Begg Farmhouse just off the Cluny road.
Mindy, who disappeared a week ago yesterday, was discovered by the family on Saturday with her head almost severed and an ear missing—an act of barbarism that has shocked police and animal welfare officers.
Police are now treating the dog’s death as a serious criminal act, with a post-mortem being carried out by specialists in Penicuik to establish exactly how the dog died.
