    Dear Stakeholder

In response to the increase in cases across England and new findings in wild birds, an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory biosecurity measures is being put in place and will come into force across all of England and Scotland from noon on Saturday 25 January 2025.

In addition, the regional Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory housing and biosecurity measures is being extended to include the unitary authorities of North Yorkshire and York and a new area covering Shropshire from 00:01 on Monday 27 January.

The new AIPZ with mandatory housing and biosecurity measures will then cover:

    • North Yorkshire (added)
    • York (added)
    • Shropshire (added)
    • The East Riding of Yorkshire
    • The City of Kingston upon Hull
    • Lincolnshire
    • Norfolk
    • Suffolk.

All bird keepers in these areas must keep their birds housed to protect them from bird flu. This applies to pet birds, commercial flocks and just a few birds in a backyard flock.

All bird keepers should remain vigilant and follow these housing and stringent biosecurity measures, in addition to following any Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area, to prevent future outbreaks.

Check the avian influenza interactive map to see where restrictions are in place.

See more on GOV.UK and GOV.SCOT.

  3. copied off facebook

Due to a very poor forecast for this weekend, overcast with rain and a constant north wind there will be no race this weekend from brechin, hopefully weather may improve next week so we might actually be able to get training done.
The decision has been made to delay the young bird season by one week so it will now start on Saturday the 20th July.
In the event of more poor weather at weekends we might be forced to race on weekdays but any decision will be made on a weekly basis

  5. Afternoon all.Last week i read a paper from the elite club from Aberdeen posing the question,WHAT CAN THE ELITE CLUB DO FOR FANCIERS FLYING NORTH OF US.Many of the suggestions are quite innovative and are obviously designed to stimulate discussion among members of the north fed in an attempt to gain their participation ,or membership in and of the elite club .While i have no problem with the elite club trying to expand and offer fanciers something different there may be serious consequences for the North of Scotland Fed,ie reduced membership, birdage and eventually collapse.May i pose the question on this forum without being attacked for having an opinion, how is the north fed going to address this serious issue which ,i believe threatens our future existence as i have heard that many from the east of our fed have already nodded their heads in the direction of the elite club  its certainly  another string to our bow  to race birds elsewhere well worth considering

  6. looks like the Amal   had a good race  up here with a good lot of birds this could be the future   for the north of scot lofts   to get a race   timed also the national  seems to have been a decent  race   well done to  all who participated   in both  races

  7. Paul there will be a meeting called shortly as most are sick  of this crap   and i, m not the only one not happy   i,m getting a number of phone calls to ask me to take the race controlling back on which i told them no way  but i know a lad who is willing to  so watch this space
