  1. Is it possible to add rings my self? Well I've tried' I entered the birds ring number and colour sex but can't scan the ring over my pad. How do I do it
  2. I lost another today. God know what was wrong with it but it's mouth was full of scab looking mess, watering away gargling on what ever liquid was in its mouth. so I got rid right away. Apert from that one they look in good condition. I had a feel of a friends birds and the lumps I was feeling ( shoulder blades) on the wing joints, his birds have the same??? Do all pigeons have these lumps? I've lost about 20 young birds this year due to ybs all that I was given. I've had my 20 leave the nest and they are actually looking very good apart from the bone lump I can feel on the back, wing joint!
  3. I've just had 20 young birds just left the nest and they also have the swollen wing joint. How do I get rid of 100 birds that look fine and health but will never preform like they should. It will be like mass merder
  4. Would you get rid of every thing and start again? Who says the next batch of birds won't pic it up from my lofts- pen, pigeons pec at all sorts of things. I can't see how it's possible to eradicate it unless I set all the lofts on fire and built new. I feel like throwing in the towel. Devastated all the work and money and I was really enjoying it, I just feel like it's been a complete waist of time now. It's putting me of starting again as I may get it from some other loft or even mine
  5. You know if you have it mate. It's a mess of an illness. They stop eating weight falls off, swollen joints they fall over and sit all puffed up in a corner of the loft. All the birds in the loft end up with swollen wing goings. And they look really healthy and they even fly but when you get hold of one you can feel it's not right. They won't win races they are fooked
  6. A vet has give me Cyperfloxin 200. In into my seconed week 1ml. Per ltr have you guys ever used it
  7. Thanks for the advice all How Do I know who is the carrier tho? They all have the swollen joint on the wing
  8. I've spent so much money on these prisoners and all year dedicated my life to these birds, breeding and training the young. I've built up just short of 100 birds now. What am I ment to do, kill them all? I could not bring my self to do it! If I did get rid how do I know it won't happen again? I've spent 3-4 thousand pounds on my new lofts as well as birds, and all that time Will this disease be imbedded in my loft?
  9. So what do I do? Get rid of all the birds and prisoners and start again? I'm devastated
  10. My birds are just getting over an illness and they still have swelling to there joints on each wing. I have read that it's a build up of salmonella bacteria in there joints. They are looking much better in there selfs but wondering if this swelling will ever go away. Is this perminant damage?
  11. The cat still make a mistake in my eyes. It killed my baby and my 177 wants revenge. All I've been reading is to make it well vented so that's what I did. I never expected a preditor like a cat would get through an inch gap in the floor? Would most? Any how one lesson learned my my mistake also
  12. Sorry peter
  13. It was a black fat cat! Was under the loft other day. Holes are blocked of now. I want to tell that cat what I think about its silly mistakes !!! Well my friend dose
  14. Blood sprayed like it popped, very strange
  15. It was still alive in that photo
  16. Yes that's right. One of my pigeons has exploded all its guts out of its ****! How do I put pics up so you all can see ? The bird was a youngster I got from some one at weekend. The bird was fine this morning and as I just went to the loft' in side away from predators and sharp objects. The bird was stood there' alive! With a big rip from near the vent ( 3 inch rip ) with its insids hanging out. Loads of blood splayed in one corner of the shed as tho its insids exploded. Has any one heard of out like this before? I'm wondering if it had some sort of illness?
  17. Ok thanks. So why don't we put the older birds in darkness
  18. May sound like a dumb question but how many times will a pigeon moult it's flights
  19. What happens if they don't moult all the flight? Do you pull them And why is this so important they shed all there flights
  20. Right now this is making more sense. So first it's body moult then the flights. Are you ment to pair the yearlings after they have moulted all there flights?
  21. I've been reading that 4-5 days is just not enough to sort the birds out from salmonella Well thank you guys for all your PMs and replays I've managed to get sorted now ðŸ‘
  22. I've been there buddy. They sold out. Can't find it anywhere
  23. My ybs are not well I got some birds from a chap I met over the Internet. He's been kind enough to give me about 40young birds for free. But he just had his birds tested and found they have salmonella. Well mine are not to good. Some are skinny as whippet and all hunched up on the floor. They are off there food and some looking very ill. I've lost 4 birds over the last 2 weeks now. Today I started treatment with Nifuramycin and I've been told this stuff will sort them out. My problem is that I've only got 1packet that will only treat them for 3-4 days. I need to treat for 10-15 days so I need more packets!!! Can any one on here PM me with detail were to buy some or any one can spare any for a fee. PLEAS HELP. I don't want to loose my birds. It's my fist year and I'm afraid im going to loose the lot
  24. Yes that's my question. So only takes 8-10 weeks so am I right in saying they will be on natural darkness. No need for darkening the loft is they? Or is they??? A friend has told me natural is all they need at that time of year. So I can't see why ppl put them selfs through all the extra work by pairing later in the year. It just don't make sense
  25. Hello chaps This is my first year racing and I have hundreds of questions but I'll save them for later! I'm a little confussed on darkness ? My question is" if I pair up my birds on the 10th December we have natural darkness How many weeks/months are they ment to be in darkness? If I pair them on the 10th dec when would they molt? Hope some one can clear this up for us
