Ok then does anyone know the nutrional value/difference between old and young beans? I have also found that the older the bean the bigger the bean and my birds do not want to eat them.
-
Oh Okay Thankyou!
-
Webmaster, I cannot get on to the site to re-register my vote. Can you help please??
-
I am not getting involved in any bitchy comments so I will not be commenting on this thread again. But I will still do my bit for the sport. Yes we all have a right to speak our minds and air our thoughts. As far as I am concerned this is my sport and it is damm hard work, time consuming, demanding, stressful, emotional, expensive and you know what I love it. I do have alot to learn tho, as I have only been doing it for 3 years (7 wins this season), I am dedicated and will not let people dictate to me. I am very strong minded and strong willed.

Think you getting me mixed up with ticeye!! I am tic eye hen.

Webmaster, Where is the petition you were going to set up? I understand you to be busy. Maybe I am being Too pushy, but this is close to my heart and other fanciers. We can not put it off much longer we need to strike while the iron is hot. I have not got the skills to do this via the net - unfortunately.
-
Dovescot I am not being self centered and I am like most of us very passionate about our SPORT. I am trying to get things done. It is not praise I want it is results for US PIGEON FANCIERS! No I am not going to Blackpool (I attend local shows). I do lead another life and have other committments. Thank you for your comment though.
-
Thankyou webmaster. I think point 1 is our main problem then taxation should be an easier problem to sort. I am willing to help. Thankyou I am not very good with technology!
-
Vallance lofts that is a fantastic idea! Alot less work than what I suggested on other thread! Do we have any volunteers please??? I never go to Blackpool - maybe I should solely for this pupose - but I can not fight it on my own and most of the members on this site seem more interrested in the annual dance! Ooops SORRY ( IM NOT REALLY) if I have offended some but I love my SPORT!!!!!!
-
No reply to my idea then?????? NO WONDER PIGEON RACING IS AS IT IS!! I AM WILLING TO MAKE A STAND AND NO-ONE IS TAKING IT SERIOUSLY. Most of you guys are more interrested in the annual dance... What are you all scared of, most of you are all talk and willing to sit back and let the true fanciers do the hard work? Bring it on! Ha its laughable!!!
-
Well done Fits, its nice to hear of decent sportmen!
-
Well done REDCHEQHEN, that doesnt suprise me! Thanks for the link!

Come on guys we need to sort out recognition for pigeon racing being classed as a sport - this is why we are having all these issues and problems because officially it is not a sport (we know it is in reality) Take a look at my thread on 'pigeon racing is a sport' Every club in every town, village, city etc should have every member of their club sign a petition and hand it in to the sports minister or the prime minister gordon brown!! Come on guys!!! I will write one and try to post it to this site for all to down load (but I am not very computor techical - I will try over the next few days. Please be patient as I work fultime). '
-
Thanks Davey I will keep a look out- I really have to get some Delbars.
-
Thank You guys!!!! Peter Bryant emailed me basicaly saying that he 'thinks the message has got round'. This is no where near a good enough reply. I will not let this go! NOWAY! I will take the definition of Sport and break it down into further definitions-put it in simple language and do my best to get us recognised as a sport!!! Here goes the hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Peter Bryant is not doing what he should for our SPORT! Where is the Queen in all this? Where is her statement????? Most of us keep a small loft - pigeon racing is expensive enough anyway without the added tax! I agree with Pault on the other thread that all big pigeon breeders and sellers should be taxed. What was that Idiot on about agreeing with the Government - obviously more money than sense!!! I do however agree that some pigeon fanciers breed much more than they need to or can afford therefore high lossess adding to the ferrel population. When you have a back garden loft we should all consider our neighbours. This way they will become more adverse to the SPORT of pigeon racing! Especially now as it is in the media more.
-
Below is an email that I sent to my local Echo and Peter Bryant after hearing the BBC news Moday Night. The SW Echo got back to me and as a result I am going to be in tonights press. I hope they do not miss-quote me (you know what the media are like). I am seriously considering chairing a meeting with the Sports Council etc to try and understand why they do not wish to class Pigeon Racing as a sport! Watch this space.... I heard on the news today that Racing Homing pigeons is not a sport and will have to pay business rates! This is not acceptable!!! Most of us would not be here if it was not for the Homing Pigeon as during the world wars they received 53 dickens medals the equivilant to the george cross (many more medals than war dogs). If it was not for these fantastic birds there would have been many more lives lost!!!! It is about time the media, the government, the general public and DEFRA understood this and appreciated, that us pigeon fanciers are keeping this memory alive by this wonderful sport of ours. Also did you know that at any time homing pigeons could be called upon to help us win wars again!!! This is fact! The queen has her own pigeon loft and is the Patron of the British Racing Pigeon. So please get real they are not flying rats they are valuable part of our British Heritage. PS it is us humans that are the disease spreaders (rats on two legs), we are the ones who pollute the environment, drop all types of litter etc etc etc..... I feel very strongly about this!! I welcome anyone to challenge me otherwise.

Unfortunately wings 04 has not replied to my last PM that I sent him. So I am still looking. I am willing to pay (but not stupid money) for the right delbars.
-
Hiya all, Please I am still after a pair of Delbars if anybody can help??
-
Yep Pigeons dont poop when in flight. When we first moved in our neighbours were a pain in the *expletive removed* esp on race days-putting washing out just as one arrived home or just simple putting their washing line up high minus the washing. Also when our babies were out for the first time they used to make either aloud bang or somehting just to scare them up into the air. Neighbours can be a pain but dont let them rule your life and ruin your hobby!! :

Thanks Guys esp Matt and Jimmy, That was what I was thinking. Interresting subject though! I know healthy birds moult and it is a very good sign to see plenty of down feathers. As is a good sign that that the birds are eager to bath as mine always are. Yep I have two cocks paired together and they havent come out of moult as well as the others yet. It does seem to be that the ones that have had particulary dif races moult through last.
-
Thanks Tony I like your seagull pic!! Young and old hens and cocks are all seperated at end of season. I thought the reason could be the fitter and more relaxed they are the longer they take (no fret marks) - esp.old birds??
