  2. ive got 2 the first one was in 05 my second year with yb's had 40 all loft flying well so had them training in stages and all was going well and as i was on the caudwell system with the old birds thought id train the ybs from the 12 mile marker as i did with the ob's, it was a nice clear afternoon so up they went, sat out in the garden till night fell and nothing, next day got 5 back and that was it then the phone started ringing had 7 reported between essex and newcastle and i live in lincolnshire, had a busy few days fetching them back got them home and sorted so moved the lib site all was going well till racing started, after 3 races only had 2 left, since then i have been past here and only just noticed a mobile phone mast hid behind tress 1 mile from lib site the second one was last year with yb's, bred 30 after training and sorting out started the programme with 20 all homong and trapping like bullets from any distance, first race came decided to split them 10 to first race 10 to second (same lib site) the first 10 went on there first race, on sat got 1 back from the 10 in race time and that was all none back none reported, second race 10 went again and about 30 mins before ETA the heavens opened to the point of 5m visability got 5 back very wet and agin no more back none reported, third race sent all 6 got 5 home decided that'll do for them so stopped, not seen any of them or had any reported since
  3. i have a red hen that does this every year just as she is rearing her first round, she is an 03 bird and bought her for distance and havent been able to race her because of her going into full body moult, the feathers grow back straight away but takes too long to be able to race her so i think she is going to have to go this year as she has bred nothing special either The only answer i can find is that it is a genetical thing and when under a lot of stress the feathers fall out nothing to do with mites or lice as she is the only bird i have that has been affected by it

    Sparrowhawk

i haave seen a few hawks here but have not had a strike yet (touch wood) i think this is down to the fact i am surrounded by trees and they are full of crows, wood pigeons and doves so are getting the 24.7 takeaway from them
  8. they are off the yellow cock that is my avatar
  9. only yellows ive managed to breed are out of yellows, have a yellow cock and a blue pied hen pair this year and they bred a red cheq and a yellow pied
  10. my happiest memory was on my first race with yb's in 04 sent all 6 i had and was very nervous, but in came my first race heart pounding i caught her and clocked her in closely followed by the other 5 (within 20 mins) she came last in our club 30 mins behind the 1st bird but i got them home 2nd wek i got them all back in again anyway sat came in she came again listened to all the times because my clock was opened last and i knew i was 2 mins before the first bird and was thinking she had done really well as she came from the north ( i race south road) but i came 12th coz i give most of the club 10 mile overfly but she was the first bird clocked in my eyes. one day before basketing for the 3rd race i got a yb come back after being lost of a 15 mile toss 7 weeks earlier looked ok so it went in the basket come sat morning the damn thing was first home and ended up 5th club and that has been my best result to dat
  11. why does this keep happening ??????????????/
  12. It cost me £20 to buy all the wood to strengthen the loft out first from a local bloke, then the tiles i dropped on lucky because there was a bloke up the road from me who my dad knows who was re-roofing his ouitbuildings so got them for nowt and was only about 3 short and got them for 50p each, but all in all for the wood to strengthen, screws.slate lathe tiles, ridges, sand and cement it cost me about £50 as i was very lucky as the tiles alone would have cost £140
