  1. When I was in Bowness, Windermere I spotted SU 07 F 2164 with 2 rubber rings enjoying its self amongst the Swans, Ducks and Tumblers. The date was June 9th 2008

I hope he has now gone home! Cheers, Alf Rothwell

  2.

no trick  question page 11 2007 handbook

    23 Federations  142 clubs  2034 members

interpret this as you wish - all except one Federation gets more than one vote !!

I repeat the UNC have not got individual membership. I suggest you also add up the clubs stated on page 11 and it does not add up to 142 clubs. In my opinion the statement made is a rough guide. You will also note that Whitley Bay 4 Bird club is listed and it folded approx; 4 to 5 years ago. I am not knocking you just stating some facts. Alf R

  3. IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT I REPORT THE DEATH OF SMOKEY ,                 IT CAME AS A GREAT SHOCK AS THE NEWS CAME THRU AS WE WAITED ON HIM WITH HIS BIRDS FOR THE SNFC RACE,(sorry i'm lost for words) rest in peace smoke

What a Shock! Had he been ill? I have had some great times with him at "Scotlands Own" and some of the Major Shows. Him and I stayed at Noel Higginsons house in Northern Ireland a few years back and he kept everyone in great humour. A great Scribe for the "RP" and one of the true characters of our sport. R.I.P. Ian and sincere condolences to Tiger Ann

  4. I was very sorry to hear about Bobby's death. I met him on a number of occassions, we were on a panel at Blackpool a few years ago and met him at Scotlands on on various moots etc. He was a great guy and a wonderful pigeon man. Sincere condolences to his family. Alf Rothwell

  5. I am sure Vic Taylor of Sherfin corn used it on the PEANUT POWER he sold over 30 years ago. I hace also heard of people using it but had trouble regarding it going sour. It must be good stuff if fed at the right time. I can also remember Fred Parkinson of Ushaw Moor giving his birds Goats Milk in the drinker. Don't ask me what kind of goat as it was over 40 years ago. I definately know it was not called Billy.

  6. murray mills do it as well

Paul, I get it my arm every couple of months and the wife cannot get me down from the roof. Good Stuff Cytacon I used it for years for the birds but preffered Chevita Multivitam B12 on a thursday night. Cheers Alf Rothwell

  7. This is terrible news.Who does things like this? I hope someone is caught for it, it also happened to Forest Hall headquarters on saturday morning. Why are these culprits never caught?. Alf Rothwell

  8. As most people know Jimmy Cowan's Bereavement Sale is OCT 22nd SUNDAY.

I have just heard the news that Jimmy won the following in Shiremoor HS. INLAND AVE,CHANNEL AVE and COMBINED AVE, yes the COMBINED AVERAGE and no youngbirds were raced. Another great season, Debra was very pleased to hear the news. Alf Rothwell

  9. I find it very difficult not having the birds. That is why i go on the computer and read some of your posts. I also watch a lot of football on sky it helps pass the time away.i support Newcastle Utd and that does not help a lot. I think I would still have pigeons if I had worn a mask years ago. You always had a routine and you made yourself stick to that routine if you wanted to win races.I still keep in touch with a lot of fanciers and like to read the results. More clubs should put their results on this site. Cheers, Alf R

  10. Rapido died a long time ago in Northumberland. The North East was full of Busschaerts not only George Busschaert but also his brothers Andre Busschaert. The Newton Family of Shildon had the first ones I knew of in the North East ( early sixties). When I started up in Whitley Bay after leaving Ushaw Moor I formed a family of them from Billy Sanders (Toft Hill), Dr J J Horn &  Ali Bros.I concentrated on these for up to 415 miles and for the longer races I had the grizzle family from Ray Pearson (Ushaw Moor). These two families kept me at the Top for 35 years. I think the best Busschaerts in the world finished up in the North East of England. In my later years of racing I crossed them with the Van Wildemeersch.

  11. Andy that night was at Blackpool when a few of us got together until 6am. Jimmy really enjoyed himself then we all went to bed and had to be down for breakfast at 8am. I think the hotel was called The Village and the Jodges and officials stayed there. a fire alarm had went off with people runing from their rooms, but we knew nothing about it. Yes there will be some crackers in the sale including a 1st and 2nd Up North Combine. The UNC winner has bred at least 10 winners for Jimmy and friends. I hope it all goes well. Alf R

  12. My apologies Paul, I hit the A instead of the O. Yes I did hear from John Jackson last year that the allotment holders had to get off to make way for some new houses, I can remember when I started up I had a Blue Cock and Hen only and I used to race in our local Novices club, You had to take the rubber off the bird and run to the Post Office, first one there won. Many a time you were running down the bank from the top allotments when you saw someone runing up from the bottom allotments and you pushed yourself to your limits to get there. Great Times. Alf R

  13. Jimmy I can remember when you judged at the NEHU "North East Show of the Year"

I am still paying for all the trouble you caused. (Only joking). Most Judges had a good time there and the Easington & District Council Officials treat the NEHU very well and did their best to help us make it the Best 1 day Show in England or even the UK. I hope the South Shields show can be better than Peterlee for the NEHU as the profit from the show helped keep the costs down in running the NEHU. THe biggest problem at Peterlee was parking your car. Alf Rothwell
