  20. hya joe like i mentioned mate i dont use my hens for the first couple or three races just the bowl ive found that my cocks perform better not seeing the hen before racing, all i drum into the birds is that there hen is in the loft on return from a race the only time i will show my cocks their hens is if their on fire bouncing around the loft as i feel this will calm the cocks down as many races are lost in the basket i feel the secret to winning a race is to send the cocks calm and not hanging of each other in the race crates as the energy needed for the race is all used up fighting with other cocks so this is the only time ill start to introduce hens to my cocks if they are bouncing i suppose its as to speek to settle them
  21. like i said in a different post i dont use the hens at the start of the season i motivate by using the bowls and straw i also put up a v perch in each section which faces the cocks boxes sooner or later 1 of the cocks will take to the perch through out the day i find this super for motivating the cocks as they come more protective over their boxes thinking the cock on the v perch is going to try and take another cocks box jason
  22. well good question mate my way of thinking is the cock doesnt need the hen every wk they soon get bored with this idea you need to try and fool the cock by trying different things my cocks race well enough for the first 2 / 3 races just by shownig the bowl you may also add straw or tobbacco stalks on the 3rd wk this also motivates the cock why show the hen every wk when you can use her to you own advange through out the season when shes really needed ive got a cock here that wont perform to a hen or a bowl he will only come to win when theres another cock in his box i think fanciers that are at the top the sport are at the top for one reason and its not motivation its being a true pigeon fancier / fanciers and nowing there pigeons pigeons tell you when they are ready all we try and do is make it easy for ourselves each wk by having a system as for medicating pigeons healthy pigeos win races id pretty much say this is why fanciers treat their pigeons jason
  23. hya mate ive done darkness before time and time again all i was doing was asking information about how or if it would effect ybs dropping flights putting them on darkness at the end of march as for ybs in the nest this yr im trying something different with my cocks ie motivating them to ybs in the nest when the cocks are out on exercise the hens will be let into their sections to feed ybs (which will take strain of the cocks ) when cocks go up the road on training chuck hens will feed ybs (which will take the strain of cocks ) plz feel free to correct me if you think this will harm my cocks in any way or if you feel im doing anything wrong with my pigeons
  24. cheers jimmy
