It works well on a poultry site I am on, they have a sin bin where only over 18's are allowed to join, you have to have been a member for six weeks. We were at a funeral in Lagan between Dalwinnie and Fort William and we heard that the blacksmith had white fantails in Newtonmore so we went to see him, we got this dovecote from ebay and as you can see it is very nice but it turned out the compartments were too small and the roof was a harbour for mites. we travelled all the way back up to get six fantails which we still have today, although the dovecote is no longer with us we now have four others and two lofts housing racers, fantails, Birmingham rollers and a few fancy breeds

Be careful what you wish for Kevin, these will do a lot more damage than any hawk if you get one in your area. They kill just for the sake of it and will wipe our your stock in one visit Nice to see the hawk get a whipping

We have two gay cock garden fantails, no matter what I do to separate them or try and pair them they are not interested and up they end up together :-/

I think most vets know very little about pigeons because they rarely see any as fanciers tend to deal with problems themselves. The more any vet gets to deal with any animal the more they become experienced in them. We had a post mortem carried out on a pigeon by DEFRA at the Bush estate in Edinburgh and it came back as meningitis which our local vet knew nothing about but now he does This a good place as well and good luck Pete http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/vet
