Latitude And Longitude Wanted From A Scottish & Irish Fancier
meridklt replied to meridklt's topic in Racing Pigeons
In answer to some comments:- how would it be used ? publicly or privately ,once information is given ? Privately between you and myself. Why not just contact the Scottish union Even if I knew of a name to supply, rightly so they would not supply me with the co-ordinates of one of their members. ...the google earth is of no use, as all measures are done on a ordnance map... The mathematics involved with converting RPRA OS co-ordinates to Google Earth WGS84 co-ordinates, has as I stated already been completed by myself. Last year I completed an interesting excersize for a 21 member RPRA club and it was found out using the mathematics involved that their member's co-ordinates varied between 2 yards and 710 yards out. The secretary then submitted every member's Google Earth co-ordinates to the RPRA and I was then supplied later with their new RPRA co-ordinates. I then did all the conversions again and forwarded to him my Google Earth images for him to compare with his copy originals and all were exact. In my view for total transparency considering one club had such glaring anomalies. Perhaps the RPRA could then go one step further onwards from submitting Google Earth co-ordinates and give members the opportunity to double check on their web site a cross check just in case a mistake was made by the RPRA or a club, because without that we are still having to accept what is supplied is accurate. -
I stand corrected when saying nothing would be available, as I failed to check if both sites were on the same server, which they are not. Pigeonbasics.com is on servers ns45.1and1 and ns46.1and1 pigeonbasics.org is on servers ns59.1and1 and ns60.1and1

Nothing is available when a server is closed down. It's like switching off the master switch at your household electricity main board.

No Fifer as any well written Virus/Trojan will attack the Restore file structure and Registry before implementing the virus.

As long as you did not ignor the Virus/Trojan warning then you will be OK. As most virus checkers do give an option to ignor the warning and you did continue to use the web site, you need to perform a deep scan. The Trojan.JS.Blacole has so many variants (you possibly noticed the Trojan name changing over a couple of days) it can be difficult to fully remove and if not fully removed will sleep awaiting you to perform a particular designated task. The thing to look out for over the course of a few weeks is your computer/laptop will start running very slow and eventually stop altogether. At the time of penning this responce, the 'Cloud protection' virus is still running on their server (this is not a Trojan.JS.Blacole virus) and 99% of the time your there, your safe to do so and the virus checker is not going to report it because your not going to the directory folder where it is located.

SATURDAY: The Pigeon Chat Forum today whilst exibiting all is now fixed, it is not. There is still a 'Cloud protection' virus on the server and do not ignor any warning your virus checker flags up. Should this virus get past your virus checker, you may be presented with a screen offering to clean up the 'Cloud' issue for you, do NOT click on that link. I'm sure the people working on the problem for JT are aware of this and it is quite a simple fix to remove from their server.

Hello Fifer, I have never actually left your Board, but thanks for the 'Welcome back'. Pigeon Chat did not initially ban me, it was my grandson that originally closed my membership and without success I was unable to re-register. I then sent one email requesting assistance to re-register and received no reply, this was followed over a period of time by three further emails asking if I was banned for some reason, and again no replies. Obviously, running this Board your aware I could have obtained registration by unscrupulous means if I had wanted to. You question if I was active, well probably more than here. I would guess even my 7 posts here are substancially more than the vast majority here who prefer to read and make no posts, which in my experience is the norm for all the Boards I administer for my clients and long may it continue, as no one should be subjected to banning because they choose not to post. I administer for a client one world wide company Private Board with a membership in excess of 15,000 and because of bulk email marketing, preening is required now and again. But all are contacted asking them to simply reply if they wish to retain membership. Your to be congratulated Fifer on a clean, no nonsense layout of Pigeonbasics.

I run 1 public and 4 private Internet auction sites which run the same PhpProbid auction software as Pigeon Chat and very much doubt the auction site was hacked. On the extremely rare occasions when access to the PhpProbid auction software has been breeched, the hackers have always caused havoc on the auction site itself the day they gain entry. Plus there is no correlation between their PhpProbid and PhpBB chat board software because they would have to have access to the server itself to migrate from one to the other. Mind you, if they did do the deed from there (which I doubt), they can easily come back again as they would now have access to the Pigeon Chat PhpProbid auction administration side because it is not secure due to having no first line of defence (I have just been to their sign in Admin Area). I also run private and public PhpBB chat boards and the general advice from PhpBB when attacked with the JS:Trojan.JS.Iframe variant is to back up all databases from the server end and reinstall the software. A long and tedious task to put all design work back again, but well worth the trouble to rid oneself of this pesky Trojan. I would offer to relate my experiences in using both sofware packages direct to JT, but I have been banned from Pigeon Chat since my young grandson managed to unsubscibe me, and I have never received the courtesy of a reply to four email requests asking why I'm banned.

Mick, What was the reasoning behind wanting to go to Marmande rather than Bergerc?

The Gem GPS records every single second, not 3. Whilst the 3 minute one is similar, but as the other poster said, the bird covers a whole lot of ground in that 3 minutes and this will be missed. Also the GEM GPS has software that is totally different to the 3 minute job and Brian's allows a vast number of different Google Earth display options. Plus he has a help phone number if needed and it comes with a detailed instruction booklet that covers everything from installing to running it. Brian's films are here: (allow time to download) http://www.gemsupplements.com/gps/gpsfilm01.wmv http://www.gemsupplements.com/gps/gpsfilm02.wmv

There are two films on Brian Wall's Gem Supplements web site showing the tracks he obtained from the GPS he sells and which are then viewed in Google Earth. The test he did over 3 miles of open water at Hayling Island is really interesting. They can both be viewed here http://www.gemsupplements.com
