hi there

why is it that when a stray is caught in a loft. The pigeons is clearly marked, stamped and a reward will be given, but nothing is reported.

But the pigeons end up in the petshops for a pound and then resold for five pounds?

When the owner is offering the same or more for the return of the pigeon.

Why are we not doing this anymore? If this continues then I see that more fanciers will be leaving the sport?

please do leave your opinions and comments

It's because half the time anyone reports a stray they get the run around, owner doesn't want to know so people stop bothering reporting them, sad but true.

HI, I WOULD LIKE THE NAME AND ADDY OF THE PET SHOP BUYING AND SELLING THESE BIRDS THAT DO NOT BELONG TO THEM, BECAUSE THEY NEED REPORTING, ............AMANDA

I've just had my first season with old birds i lost 20 birds and only had two reported. It is very disapointing for people like me who are starting out it makes. you feel is it worth it, all the birds had wing stamps and quikie ring numbers on the feet. so there was no excuse for people not to report them.

It does worry you when you read e-mails about people selling birds on in pet shops. i would like the address of the pet should not to report them though.

Talking here about other people's property.

A shop selling on stolen property is surely a matter for Trading Standards and / or Police.

I know the feeling i moved house and all my birds where let out my loft when i was out.

I came so close to packing it all in.This was my first full season in the sport and ive not won a race yet but someone still decided it would be better to let all my birds go.

I managed to get all my young bird team back after two days of them flying round i also got a pair of stockers back.Lost 7 stockers that i bought to start me off .If it wasnt for the support of the missus i would of just jacked it in.

i went onto a website of a person advertising selling pigeons. in his racing pigeons section, it clearly shows birds with no rings on...his explanation? he was given them from a friend so cut the rings off, therefore if they escaped from whover bought them from him, then his friend wouldnt have to pay the amtrak. surely if they escaped they would go back to his friend? makes you wonder if these birds are stolen?

aye there could be something in what you say there, because without a ring nobody can say who they belong to

Explanation doesn't make sense to me, but neither does putting photos of 'stolen' goods on the chaps website.  ;D

ID ring is proof of ownership, and proof of ownership is the one thing you need if you want to make sure the deal is above board. Also its the only way of tracing the new owner if the bird does go AWOL.

In my opinion an unrung pigeon is basically 'a cannot be sold item'. The only time I've heard them change hands was as gifts, and those were proven breeders.

after looking at the site and the state and conditions in the lofts would not buy anythig from him disgusting

it doesnt seem to be a loft as theres cardboard boxes and ladders in some of the pics. he also has some sort of tape on there wings. does that not ruin them?

Was thinking along those lines myself after having visited the site, just does not look like a loft set up in some of the photographs.

if that bloke can sell pigeons our of that there is some real mugs about or he is a good salesman.

i have rung pigeons that dont have a pedigree, all quality birds but people wont buy without the paperwork so one thing is for sure he is one hell of a salesman

the persons website is  www.kashmirlofts.piczo.com if anybody would like to have a look. maybe it is all genuine but just seems iffy.

the pigeons look like there kept in a old cellar no natural daylight needs to buy a scraper.
