BIGPETE Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Ringed a YB only to notice a week or so later the ring had come off and fell into the nest. What a waste Will keep it and train it up and hope its a hen so I will have some use for it. Lesson learnt, ring and then check the next day and the days following to check the *expletive removed* is still on!
bigbill Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 we have all been got out with that one, lesson learned, birds looking good.
Wiley Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Looks a nice baby it must be from what you feel is your best Pete, otherwise you wouldn't have bred it. Maybe a blessing in disguise!
BIGPETE Posted August 25, 2014 Author Report Posted August 25, 2014 we have all been got out with that one, lesson learned, birds looking good. Cheers Bill. Lesson certainly learned and won't be making this mistake again in a hurry! Looks a nice baby it must be from what you feel is your best Pete, otherwise you wouldn't have bred it. Maybe a blessing in disguise! Yeah deffo like the parents. The first set of eggs they laid didn't hatch out. The hen is quite old so wasn't sure if it was her or if maybe moving to a new loft had unsettled the parents. Second lot of eggs only one egg hatched out. So like you say this could be a blessing if it is potentially her last fertile egg. Fingers crossed though next year she will produce Go to the back of the class At the back as always both hands under the desk
Henrik Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Done the same Pete, took a pair of latebreds and the ring has slipped off one.

BIGPETE Posted December 21, 2014 Author Report Posted December 21, 2014 A good few months on now and glad I kept the little hen. Turned out of my 2014 late breds I had more cocks then hens so she will be useful for something to fly back to.
