Taking photos of birds

Hi after seeing some smashing pictures of some very nice birds i was wondering how you take your pictures of the birds,do people use some sort of box to get the birds to stand correctly etc.All i do is get a good side shot of the birds then edit it onto a background.

carl that is a fantastic pic, do you use photoshop? i have photoshop but have no idea how to use it!!  :

Hi samantha i use a programme called photodraw i found it very good and easy to use,i have it on disk if you wanted to try it.
