Good question! ... the loft faces East so gets plenty of light especially during the mornings ... additional sliding windows would undoubtedly improve the lighting situation generally but that's nothing I'm too worried about (do you think I should be?).

I like to have plenty of light into the loft, especially at this time of year, when its damp outside, any bit of sunshine to dry the loft out is always a bonus, unless you have heating of course?

 

Agree with Craig, would definately put an aviary on to give the birds a chance to sit in the sun.

We do have plans for an aviary ... albeit a portable/easily dismountable one ... mainly to help settle young birds before giving them their full liberty. Like so many I have to strike a careful balance between fully indulging my passion for pigeons with the need to retain a nice garden area not least for the kids to play in so I don't want to pinch too much for an aviary for too long a period.
