Guest Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 nice birds sbelbin all the best with them martin Nice pigeons sbelbin. I'll get in touch with you later about your birds
Guest Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Sbelbin, you use your fan, how often do you use fan? is it for keep dust away ?
Guest Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 I put the fans in recently to try and drop the humidity in the loft, but was told I should leave them off in the winter as it draws out any warm air aswell. Ive got a low voltage heater to drop the humidity instead. So the fans are used for only one hour in the morning to drag out any dust and crappy air B4 i go into clean them out. How effective the fans are I am yet to decide. The heater works in dropping the humidity, but I am undecided to whether this is a good idea for pigeons, I read a book by D.Allen (The Widowhood Year) and he recommended using heat in the loft, so only time will tell. Im going to build an avairy on the loft to give the birds the option to be in the warm or the cold.
Guest Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 Blue cock, won at 200miles (2003) and was 2nd Club bourges 550miles this year, and has loads of cards.
pigeon Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 dont no how true ths is but i live in grisaby and i have heard of a few well nown members thy will b no channel races next year
Guest Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Luckily, if there isnt any channel racing, I only started on my own this year after a 5 year partnership and my team is fairly young and ive got some fresh new blood in this year (apart from the birds above), so I will have to try a bit harder in the sprint racers. I will be gutted if there isnt any channel racing, but I suppose theres plenty more years after this one.
jimmy white Posted December 1, 2005 Report Posted December 1, 2005 yes sbelbin, looks a cracker of a cock, lets hope they make a decent pair, the breeding is all there, so fingers crossed
ray Posted December 16, 2005 Report Posted December 16, 2005 that blue cock is a nice pigeon just what you need for the distance, i hope you have a good hen for him, but i realy like the two dark checks behind him, cant see the full picture, what breeds do you keep for channel racing and where did you get them and at what cost if you dont mind me asking, ive bought jan aardens for the distance but looking for a good cross to go with them, but i havent raced a pigeon yet as next year will be my first year i hope i hope you dont mind me asking cheers mate
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Alrigtht Ray, the blue cock is a son of a busheart cock that won bourges for me a few years back, I have him paired up to daughter of a channel winner (daughter of the Blu flipey above), his YBs from this year were given to my old racing partner and one of them won for him. The darkies that you can see are pigeons that a lad bred for me this year, all bushearts. This picture show them, but doesnt do them any justice as I had to condense the picture. I was thinking of ordering some JanAardens in to cross with my birds.
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Ray, the birds I have are mainly bushearts, the older lines being birds that were in my old loft when I started, the newer bushearts are birds that a mate bred me this year who has packed in but said he will breed me a round or 2 each year so his stock birds aren't wasted. He got his birds through Ray Forbes from Peterlee who has birds going back to the Old Corbett/Larkin Lines, and they won out of turn for him. If you look in the picture above the Blue flipey and the cheq pied are 2 Van reets, though the same bloke. I offered him money for the birds, but he wouldnt take it, he said as long as he can come round on a race day to watch them thats all he wants, but I know he spent a lot of money on them.
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 sbelbin what is that on the floor of your loft is it wood chips or chip board
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Its wood shavings, a horse bedding called easibed thats treated with something so no bugs can live it. I change it every 2-3 weeks and its £7 per bag, and 1 bag will cover 12' x 6' and 7' x 6'.
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Sbelbin, why do you want to cross your busscharts from JanAardens lines ?
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Just to add a new bit of blood into them, Im not really into strains really, although I know it may come across that way.
Guest Paulo Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 thanks mate he looks a strong bird
