Newspaper draws the damp never had no problem mate got 8 pairs on the same as the chicks in the pick and there all the same clean dry nest think if the loft is damp you have prob;em but my lofts are all insulated all the best

Guest bakes Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 dont your birds build nest bakes my nest pans are full of straw and tobacco stalks and twigs they find round the garden put straw on loft floor all they was going was takeing it to the bowls and cocks was fighting for the straw from other bowls in turn 10 eggs got smashed so wrapped the bowls in newspaper and added easy bedding they went down again more or less straight away would of likes them to build there own but wasnt putting up with smashed eggs all the time. all the best

I pop a small potato in with them ;D large marbel goes in with single reared chicks as soon as they get past ringing stage and the bone struture is more or less formed i take the marbel away done it this way with my exhibiting zebra finch's i use to show and never had one sprayed legs if they do would tye there legs together till the feet/legs has formed all the best.
