our club has been using a brother hl5240 printer for our unikon systen for about 7 years we are on our 2nd now but they dont make the same model anymore what other printers does any other use with unikon ,cheers

Have loads of second hand Brother HL 5240 printers,think they are about £20 each and think postage is around a £5.and have at least 60% ink in them.

I know a few clubs that have used these second hand printers,hope this helps.give them a call.

No,dont think they make that one now.

The 5240 has been a good printer for ETS use, the only negative is the lag time between finishing unikon base station prompts and the printer to start printing, must be around 6-10 seconds, Taurus system is even slower with a lag time of 12+ secs before printing begins.

 

If anyone knows of a faster printer then it would be great to know for when club is going to renew??

I understood it was important to find a printer that supports DOS system which is very old and new printers do not recognise it

Our club has this printer - anybody know which connection is used ( on the back of the base station) when installing the printer driver?

 

There is a choice of about 10!!

UNIKON offer no help....!

 

We are assuming that - because it is a parallel port - it will be one of the LPT options - any help anyone?

(Parallel port to printer - and parallel port to base station - it will not be connected directly to the laptop)

I thought the idea of a parallel printer port to parallel printer port was it uses a computer language so no drivers need to be installed

I think there is then a connection from base station to laptop.................to do the result
