the police are trust worthy...or are they?

We have just won a major battle here in this area. A planning application had been submitted to open cast coal near houses. We in the community formed an action committee and have fought it. It has been a long haul and it has taken a huge ammount of time and effort. We won. The Developers have gone bust and the Planning Authority have agreed to throw the application out. Better still, the Local Authority are going to attempt to buy the land for the community. But here is the important bit. We have had major suport from our friends and neighbours and it shows what can be done when people stick together. Local Politicians, and police have all had to listen to us because they know full well that we can put a heck of a lot of pressure on them if they don't. Democracy at work. And it is great to be part of it.
