Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 After months of trying we have finally got our power company to come and put scarers on a large stretch of power cables that run on our land where the birds circle, we have had a few killed over the last couple of years, they have done a great job and they have put an awful lot on the stretch but they are fairly large I would guess about 6 inches in diameter and in the centre there is a reflective strip which is extremely dazzzling when the light hits ,I know it will certainly help the birds but will it do any good against the hawks because as I said they certainly dazzle when light hits it and it is very close to the lofts so we are hoping it might deter the hawks a little and if it keeps any away it will be a bonus
Guest The Newbie Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 I wish we could get some on the pylon wires near our lofts we have lost a few birds on the wires.
gorsy bank lofts Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 just had bird diverters put on wires behind my loft, had several killed in last few years, pigeons take no notice of them at all, but have noticed no wild birds sit on poles or wires now and not had spar around either so fingers crossed.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 I wish we could get some on the pylon wires near our lofts we have lost a few birds on the wires. you just need to keep on at the company that uses the cables, took us a few calls and e mails but we are happy with what they have done just had bird diverters put on wires behind my loft, had several killed in last few years, pigeons take no notice of them at all, but have noticed no wild birds sit on poles or wires now and not had spar around either so fingers crossed. well I have been watching ours and they certainly steer clear of them now and like you we are hoping it might keep some hawks away
Guest stb- Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 (edited) i had them put on two heavy 10,000 volt lines that run from my garden and across the road , birds always getting whacked on them , they were like square boxes with 6 inch plastic disks hanging from them with replector in middle , if there is a bit of wind it makes no diff still has 4 or 5 killed every year and a few brocken wings and legs , the pigeons have actually smashed all the orange disks of now 22 of them by hiting them on way past , worse if sparr comes over they just plough through the wires , another thing is there green copper and you cant see them against the green trees behind then hope yours works better than mine Edited August 15, 2012 by stb-
