pigeon359 Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Hi,Think you will be on to a disappointment here as it would be like finding a needle in a haystack.Homing Unions usualy only keep records for 10 years but now in the days of the internet there are ring issue lists older, but only for the odd couple of year. The ring is indeed from 1973 which makes it 39 years old and the original owner could be long gone by now or not even racing if still alive. The history of the ring will be virtually impossible to trace as the the ring could only be recognised by one person, the owner, if he can remember that far back! The chances of him reading this 39 years on is nigh on impossible but stranger things have happened so you never know!! You dont sound like you are a pigeon fancier so if its any consolation I can tell you that the letters SU on the ring stands for SCOTTISH HOMING UNION and the number 73 is indeed the year 1973. The letters SB stand for Scottish Borders federation.............. so what you have here is a pigeon that originates from the Scottish Borders somewhere. It could be from many of the SB clubs but finding the exact owner would be almost impossible.Shame its not an English ring as they issued ring lists through the British Homing World pigeon weekly going back many years. Its nice that you are showing the interest to try to trace the owner and I wish you well in your quest:)
