OLDYELLOW Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I breed 60 young birds. Nearly 1 bird out of 4 is killed by the birds of prey… They are in the dark from March to the end of May.From the 21st June, they are lightened. I train them more or less 15 times before the first race (15 May). After 4 races, I remove from the flying team (not from the loft because the partner of this pigeon has to stay motivated) every young bird which misses 2 times in a row. Sexes are separated on the first week of June.Males and females are together about 5 minutes before being placed in baskets. This year, they have never been on the road between 2 races. Your young bird races start much earlier than ours in UK , our yb programme starts in July for most of us , so I can understand the need for you to breed earlier for the darkness system so even at your system most are breeding too early in my opinion by two months. When do you put your breeders together to breed ????
