The ‘Homing Ability’ thread reminded me of another ‘homing ability’ mentioned in a TV programme I watched recently – Horizon’s ‘The Core’.

 

Programme contains some very topical material. It is about what creates Earth’s Magnetic Field - some believe animals use this for navigation - and there are 2 mentions of migration (see 6mins38, and 56mins47) which IMO after all the science in-between are so contradictory and utterly non-scientific as to be laughable. It also tells of how solar winds cause communication problems for our satellites - which has been mentioned at length in the recent K Index articles in BHW, although K Index isn’t covered – but explains more clearly what those problems are and where they happen – i.e. in space.

 

The programme starts with the problems experienced with the Hubble satellite when it passes over Earth at a particular place. (see 2mins50 to 6mins) what happens to it over the South Atlantic Anomaly, and (later) why.
