OLDYELLOW Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 The DPI is exploring options for a treatment as there is no registered vaccine for use in pigeons. wonder what were using duh !!!!!
Guest IB Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Paramyxo was unknown in Australia until now, they didn't even allow pigeons vaccinated against it into the country. There was a bit of a stushie 5/6 years ago when an consignment of racing pigeons either from or routed via Canada arrive into quarantine which tested positive to paramyxo antibodies. Weren't sure whether it was vaccine or whether they'd come into contact with the virus on their journey into Australia, but consignment was refused entry. This outbreak will have come as a shock to them.
