Never seen the likes of this before, anyone hazard a guess at a diagnosis???

The doo is eating handling and flying as normal, the swelling is Red under the feathers and i canny see any foreign objects either inside the mouth or outside.

Big dose of the clap for the most plausible explanation

Last year I had a young cock with a similar swelling on one side, took me a while to find it but there was a steel-grey coloured scarring/scabbing inside the beak on the same side as the swelling, on the roof of the mouth right in the corner of the join between the roof and the cheek.

He was paired with another cock and I noticed that cock's wattle once white was now discoloured, so believed it to be something infectious, like pigeon pox. Culled the bird with the swelling, kept an eye on the other, he came back 'right' right away, with no problems since.

I had one like that in the nest a few weeks ago. I still don't know what it was but it went in the bin.

My inclination is to dispose of the bird but IT IS NOT SICK. No Canker in there or anything else for that matter. If it was a common illness of ANY kind i like to think i'm clued up enough to spot. Honestly, other than the swelling (primarily on Left side) the wee do is bang on so i'm reluctant to put it down without Knowing what is wrong with it.

Going to the Vet is out of the question, i know more about doos than any of them around here.

Looks a bit like when someone gets an abscess. May be the bird has cut the inside of mouth on something sharp and it has become infected. The bird looks very healthy otherwise and may just take a wee while to over come this.

BITTEN WAY A CLEGG HAD ONE LIKE THAT BEFORE BUT IT WAS MORE TO THE SIDE OF BEAK WENT DOWN EVENTUALLY BUT WAS OK

I was tempted to pierce it with an injection needle to see if any poison or the like came out, but decided to leave it alone so long as the wee doo stays perky enough
