Guest Katrine Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 We have a racing pigeon that landed on our apartment balcony in Cardiff 2 days ago that now don't seem to want to leave. We have given it food and water and it has over the last few days gone from very tired and sleepy to quite alert and more wary of us. It has 2 rings, one white and one blue/green rubber ring with the number GB 10 F 20606. I'm not sure what to do now. I know it says to capture it first before calling anyone and reading on the Royal racing pigeons website it says they can't get back to you until 2 working days after you report a found pigeon and that they don't work on weekends. So i figure if i catch it and put it in a box today (friday), the poor thing has to sit in that box until Tue at least. I need advice whether to keep feeding and water it (or does that just encourage it to stay?) or stop feeding so it eventually has to leave to find food. Or is this a truly lost pigeon who despite me not feeding it still wont find it's way home and will just find another balcony/garden with food instead of going home? Should I therefore catch it anyway? Thank you and all help appreciated! Kind regards Katrine
