OLDYELLOW Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Expect the price of corn to be going up yet again , this is all fuel linked i feel , the new ethanol plant at Hull that building had been stopped as not on time will also have a knock on effect as there be a load of farmers with maize that wont be sold as the plants not up and running , so they will have to add the cost of drying it so can be stored but i can't see them off loading it on to the market as would cheapen maize too much :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

Guest spin cycle Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 hi they was looking at burning wheat as well which its a little mad to say as 1/2 the world s got little as it is to eat !! , here at Goole the fuel is just going up every few days 137 a lt tonight so feed £££ will only be off UP 2 i thought it was mainly wheat they were going to use?? remember how people used to complain about grain mountains...using it for bio fuel was supposed to be away around this. corn needs oil to produce ( fertilizer and ag. chems) so thats partly why price is rising. having said that a couple of good harvests around the world and the price could halve. all ag. commodities are linked back to price of wheat....and that price is largely determined by chicago wheat market. wheat futures in bulk are running at the equivalent of almost 4-20/20kg bag. remember the actual corn in the mixes you buy makes up only half approx. of the cost/bag...the rest is handling/transport etc. to save money buy farm corn or 'straights' and mix yourself
cowman Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 unless farmers get some rain in the next 10 days wheat will go up again next year we are looking at a poor harvest unless we get some rain as the plants are not getting the nitrogen into the leaves .
