Pigeons In Combat Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Dear Pigeon Fanciers, I thought you may find the following review of interest. "The Pigeoneers" reviewed by Todd Goddard, English 201 senior teaching assistant and PHD Candidate, Department of English, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Todd Goddard is a Ph.D. candidate in Literary Studies in the English Department. His research interests include eighteenth- and nineteenth-century American literature and environmental history. "I want to tell you how much I enjoyed your movie. This was a truly beautiful homage to combat pigeons and especially to Col. Poutre. Col. Poutre's life certainly deserves the attention you give it, and the care and respect you accord him is evident. You do an amazing job of capturing the subtle and tender feelings this man held for his birds. One can plainly see his wealth of admiration for his pigeons in his gentle and loving handling and in his expressive eyes. As your movie shows so well, the relationship between birds and humans is more complex than many of us will ever know, and our histories are surprisingly intertwined." Clifford Poutre on the set of The Pigeoneers, holding a homer for the last time.
