magpie Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Saw a most unusual scrap when taking my terrier for a walk in the woods tonight. Heard a commotion in the treetops and looked up to see a sparrowhawk attacking a grey squirrel which eventually beat a hasty retreat. Can only imagine the squirrel was after the sparrowhawks eggs - never thought I would be on the side of a tree rat.
Guest IB Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Saw something happening in the tops of the trees lining Edinburgh City Bypass on Tuesday morning, a very large BOP (may have been a buzzard, huge, brown colour) swooping into a treetop, hotly pursued by 2 crows. Don't know what it was after. Often see grey squirrels locally, and wonder what could catch them, stoat might get a rabbit, but don't see it being able to chase a squirrel up a tree then from tree to tree. Is that why they are out of control - no natural predator?
Guest Reeco Jnr Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 I know Goshawks take them we have a few around here, pity they have the same taste for racers!!
