Double Identities or more

I think the site should not allow anyone to have dual identities, they can post opposite views, act good cop bad cop to try and decieve. Mr Staff Van Reet for example has been exposed as being someone who is acting deceitfully.

I e mailed the webmaster to ask him if the IP address of this person matches the IP address of any other ID but have had no reply!

I understand this may be difficult for the webmaster, (confidentiality) but I believe there may be another instance of a double ID with the user called Pigeon Scout.

I think for thr safety of the webmaster and to safeguard himself from possible litigation, he should link IDs that are registered or use a large percentage of the time the same IP address.

How this would work is that when you look at the member profile it would link the other profile from the same IP addrees so you know that these two ID are more than likely the same person and if they are not the owners can easily explain if necessary.

I think the webmaster could issue a message to all ID telling them that they will be linked and giving them 7 days noyice to tell him if they want to delete one of thier ids if they want. Otherwise after the 7 day period the ID would be linked.

I would be pleased to hear the webmasters view on this?

Albear you are correct but there are a lot more than you think, some members feel the need to have multiple names because they are too afraid to post under the name they are known as........... cowards basically. there are some families and partnerships who have to have double identies etc as they are voicing opinions of different people. I wonder how many of the 1,000 plus members are duplicated etc, but i doubt if you will get a reply from the webmaster as i may ruffle a few fethers and cause bad feeling and we cant have that now can we............................. : : :

Sorry, its no secret that I've been away from the computer more than I would have liked to have been over the past 2 or 3 months (indeed I still have more than 700 emails to sort through from this time). However I cannot find your message (unless it is one of the 700). If you want to send it me again I'll have a look into your concerns.

 

IP addresses are funny old things. They can change each time you connect to the internet (espeically dialup) and the same IP address can come to represent different people given time and if they are on the same ISP in the same local area (with the dynamic allocation). Another aspect to consider is the increasing use of wireless networks which users will all have the same IP address to the wider internet (although a different subnet IP within their own network - unseen to the outside world).

 

It is against the code of conduct (above) to have two accounts (barring exeptions) and the if anyone suspects that two members are indeed the same; if they get in touch with the two usernames I will be able to run a check on the two and take action from there.
