Guest Vic Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I'm trying to post an old document, (which I scanned onto my windows,) to basics. com. I keep getting "You tried to upload a file format which is not valid on these forums. valid file types are:- bmp, gif, jpg, jpeg, png. Could one of you guys please enlighten me by pm, bit by bit, what is my best way to do it. Cheers Vic. :B NOT TOO TECHNICAL PLEASE!
Webmaster Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 What type is the document? Text, picture...? If you would like to send the document to me, [mail]webmaster@pigeonbasics.com[/mail] I can check it out and send it back to you, or upload it.
Guest Vic Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Richard, it is just an old race sheet, which I scanned onto my windows. I honestly thought it wouldn't be a big job to post it to basics, which it is turning out to be. I think it's best forgetting about, don't you agree? Cheers, Vic.
Webmaster Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 A scan could be a '.tiff' file; if you go into your scanning software and save the image as a 'jpg' (Save As, then one of the options will be file type). It will ask you for compression which between 70 to 80 would be sufficient. This 'jpg' file should fit on the forum no problems. It is because scanned files are very large (have you noticed a picture on the internet taking a long time to come up); and the tiff file format stores every detail of the scanned image it is required to convert to jpg (which uses compression) to make the image 'portable'.
