put a drop of sand and fine sawdust in the bottom of there nest bowl , ensure the birds are not fat before laying and have plenty of calcium , this will ensure good strong eggs , to ensure you birds are fat free this is what i do put them on barley fer at least two weeks before pairing , you could slip dummy's under to enable the diet , i also juice 4 carrots with one orange, i add the juice to the water and top up , the pulp i mix with the barley along with brewers yeast this will remove any fat . On the Calcium front i often mix a bit of grit in the birds feed before breeding and also add live natural yoghurt to water when cool weather in warm weather i add to the barley with pink minerals and brewers yeast . This is my start to breeding and getting good eggs that are strong . Moving back to the sand and fine sawdust in bottom of nest bowl this will prevent deformities in the keel by supporting the bird and as long has good grit minerals and a good feed you should breed healthy birds :)
