Guest homestead Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 I went to Blackpool with 2 others and the Opera House wasn't full by any means I think a lot of people were at outside sales and it was easy to move around. Petron and a few other big names were missing but still enough to look at oh yes I did see a few worse the wear who wont be going out tonight ( sleeping it off ). I bought a few bits 20 pot nestbowls £15-00 some feeders and a drinker didn't want anything else all in all a good day.
OLDYELLOW Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 saw the nest bowl offer was cheap another year didn't buy a thing
Guest Owen Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 I reckon that the Sales are going to ruin what used to be a great weekend. The sad thing is that people must be very gullable because common sense will tell you that the vast majority of birds offered for sale are just common pigeons. I would love to know how many do anything to help their New Owners. Mind you, I have little room to talk because I used to be one of those optimistic sorts and bought birds from all and sundry. I must have wasted a heck of a lot of money on these Wild Goose Chases. The British Homing World ought to look at their policy of encouraging the Sales because they are hastening the demise of Blackpool. It will not be long before the Traders, who are the life-blood of the event, will stop attending because their sales will not be good enough to warrent it.If all this does happen, what will the Bird Traders do then?
Guest bigda Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 was there to day, had a great time with STB and a friend Ralf, i meet a few basic guys, some of the birds that where on offer where no better than what, you would have in yer own shed, wintered. was at Joseph van dorning sale he had a nice hen, that he was wanting offers made, then at a later time come Sunday, he would accept the highest bid thought it was a bit of a no no, as when offering £200 he wouldn't accept, saying its on offer to Sunday but as we where only there for the day, retracted our offer to buy there and then, hope he gets it sold think he was looking for about £400 for it although he never said
