Guest Glen Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Charlie, welcome to pigeon racing. I would encourage you to read as many articles and literature you can find. On the first page of basics forum there is the message forum. There are a lot of different topics, such as pictures of members lofts, Lofts and fixtures, families and strains etc, etc. Read up on the different flying systems,(widowhood, roundabout, natural). Theres nothing worse than building something, then finding it is not practical for your needs. Your loft must be well ventilated, dry,and draft free. By the sounds of it you realize not to overcrowd your birds, but expect the number to go beyond 18. I,ve been racing for 42 years and still find it difficult to keep my numbers low. I have a total of 37 birds at moment, stock and racers. Good Luck and ask as many questions as need be.
