thomasd Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Well this week is head wind 9mph same as last week last week i training my yb's round the roof mon 35-45 mins morning and the same afternoon monday tuesday morning 45 mile training toss afternoon fly round the roof wednesday same as tuesday thursday fly round the roof morning and afternoon 45-1 hour friday stay in to rest full day. I wanted to ask is this too much this week is my 5 race.
Guest IB Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 A question and an opinion. When you say you are 'training round the roof' are you 'flagging' these birds to make them fly against their will, or are they flying freely? 5 races under their belt already. I don't think they need trained to 45 miles.
thomasd Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 this week i desided to just fly them round the roof mon to thru morning and evening i dont flag them they fly on ther own free will i was thinking that no to take them anymore 45 milers i was thinking of just leting them fly monday-tuesday-wednsday morning and evening then thursday out in the morning so that they get a good rest.
WilliamJones Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 If they're flying without flagging for 45 minutes around the loft (and you're sure they're not just perching somewhere) then they sound good! I'd recommend feeding them the absolute minimum on their rest day because a hunger will make them perform better when they race and seems to keep them healthier than racing on a full stomach (from my experiences)
Wiley Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 If your taking your birds 45 mile twice a week and there flying, 45 minutes everyday, even after there training toss, if you dont win your club id be well surprised,l as they sound like there SUPER fit!
