Guest bigda Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 A BEER fest at the Lowenbrau Keller bar and restaurant began as a promotion to celebrate the close of Dry July, but ended in the biggest brawl in The Rocks in 30 years.Police investigating what triggered the riot – involving more than 100 people at 2.30am last Sunday – now believe many of those involved were drunken supporters of visiting Scottish football team Glasgow Rangers. There are also reports that some Rangers players, here for the Sydney Festival of Football, may have been caught up in the melee. An off-duty police officer was among eight people detained. The officer was among seven released ‘‘pending further investigations’’. A 29-year-old man from Pendle Hill was charged with two counts of assault and resisting arrest. He will appear in Downing Centre Local Court later this month. Scotlands shame
