Guest joshdonlan Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Im looking for some advice on the layout of my YB section. Ive now got a set of 5 pippo boxes (10 box perches) and a set of 15 box perches all built and ready. My question is could I have 1 stack of Pippos either side of the box perches, or would this not work? Can you mix 2 types of perches, or would dominant birds pick their favourites?
Guest frank dooman Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 put them where you want the birds will choose where they go in my mind all the good birds claim the top perches/boxes
retired Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Would say however you please in one young bird section this year i have 3 x 10 Pipos on back wall and 2 sets on side wall. Other section at the minute has 24 Widowhood hen boxes but once they are gone it will be a mix of V perches, box perches and anything else i can find in the garden my stock section at the minute has 6 proper boxes, 3 old widowhood hen boxes, block of 3 old rabbit hutches and 2 walkers boxes - will let you guess which they took first.
Guest joshdonlan Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 haha ok cheers for that. I will try with the box perches in the middle. If im not happy can easily get another set of pippos sorted.

Guest Owen Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 It does not matter how you do it. The birds will not mind as long as you do not try to be tidy. Birds love corners and secret places. If you plan to fly these youngsters paired, give them as much privacy as you can.
